I found a solution that worked for me, hopefully it will solve for more people.
I spoke to an EA specialist and he/she told me to delete starwarsbattlefrontii.exe and starwarsbattlefrontii_trial.exe from your Star Wars battlefront II folder.
Then press repair or download update. Somehow this fixed my stutter and freeze. Hopefully you guys solve yours too.
Unfortunately I haven't noticed any changes with file deletion. will we ever have a solution or do we have to give up playing the campaign? It would be nice if EA would say something about this common problem...
Re-downloading the files didn't help in my case either. The holiday weekend just passed so hopefully the devs hop on this so we can play it soon.
Hey guys, I actually found out what was my issue. I am absolutely dumbfounded what is is. In my Nvidia control panel I turned Shader Cache to On, and it completely fixed the game for me. I have never seen such a difference using shader cache before until today. I typically turn that off but for some reason I left it on and the game was butter smooth. This reduced my CPU usage SUBSTANTIALLY, main menu is normally around 90%-100% and after this it drops down to 30%-60%. The game doesn't freak out whenever anything new is loaded anymore, and I can actually play it now. I hope this can help others, although it's enabled by default so I fear most will already have it on. Either way it doesn't hurt to try!
Also I find it to run best on Nvidia drivers 385.69. There is a couple of things to you need to do to bypass the driver requirement the game forces. First of all, you have to use group policy to block Windows updates, or else Windows will install driver 388.13 without warning (had it happen mid-game). Then navigate to C:\windows\system32\ and rename the file "nvapi64.dll" to something else temporarily (you will need to restore it later). After that you can uninstall the new drivers and install Nvidia driver 385.69, and then run the game. This driver provides me with a 100% stutter free experience, even 388.31 had stutters every now and then. Let me know if you need any assistance and I can go into more detail. I am so happy I finally get to enjoy the game!
