Holding Zoom as Specialist Slowly moves Player Forward

Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug When you zoom in, playing the specialist, your player slowly moves forward in zoomed direction. Works with NT-242 or Infiltration ability. Zooming moves player forward and hinders sniping when trying to acquire an accurate shot.
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name?
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug? 05/12/2018
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM) 03:06:PM
In what game mode did the bug occur? Galactic Assault
What is your time zone? PST - GMT - 8:00
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1.Play Galctic Assault/Arcade/Any Mode/Global. 2. Select Specialist class and choose NT-242 Weapon/Any Weapon. 3. When playing class, hold zoom and look down sights of weapon. 4. Do not move player in any direction and come to a complete stop. 5. Observe, on even flat surfaces, player slowly moves forward. Alternative 3a. When playing class, use Infiltration ability and zoom down sights of weapon Alternative 3b. Play any trooper class and zoom sown sights of weapon-this is a global bug.
What happens when the bug occurs? Player becomes stuck in unintentional forward movement state while only zooming in and not moving forward.
What do you expect to see? I expect to not slowly creep forward with my weapon zoomed like I'm hunting wabbits.

So. I'm pretty sure this is bugged for more than the specialist, but, zoom is broke. Really. Just play the game. I don't think it should be intentional for me to walk forward when zooming. If so--take that stupid lens flare off my scope. But just fix zoom. k?

  • Hmm...I haven't noticed this as a general bug, and I am sometimes zoomed for a long period of time.  However, I have noticed it in certain places, like sliding uphill through the sand along the side walls on Jakku when zoomed.  Are you getting it in certain locations, or everywhere?

  • I didn't have this before, but now, all of the sudden, this is a big issue for me with all classes on all maps.  I haven't changed my setting, so what is up?

So, a few things, I tested some stuff after reading a few responses elsewhere on the internet.  This is not related to my controller stick, as some threads have suggested.  Stick is fine, and switching controllers does not change the problem.

I use L2 to zoom on PS4.  It is only when holding L2 that the walking drift occurs, and this happens if I am not touching any other button.  If I use the "toggle" option for zoom instead of "hold", the drift does not occur unless I hold the L2 by accident.  There is no drift whatsoever if I am not in zoom mode.  So somehow, the "hold zoom" command and/or the L2 button is tied to forward movement.

Some have suggested that "stick dead zone" affects this.  Well, if stick dead zone is set too low, I do get walking drift with or without zoom.  Changing the stick dead zone DOES affect walking drift when I am not zoomed, but it has NO EFFECT on the amount of drift that appears when zooming.

It is clear that there are locations where this does happen, and where this does not happen.  I thought it might be related to items on the ground in front of me that stop forward movement, but it's not.  In some places, there is no drift, but in most places, there is.  So on Takodana, for example, I can stand in the middle of the flat area before the rebel headquarters, and get no drift, but if I move forward a few feet, I do get the drift.  If it were simply a controller issue, I would imagine that it would happen everywhere, regardless.

Been talking to others who play this on PS4 in my groups, and they also have been experiencing this in the past few weeks.  So it is not just me or my controller.  This is a new problem for me, I've been playing since release and not experienced this until the past two weeks or so.

I never experienced this on PC. Maybe, it's a console issue only? Knowing it's tied to an extra function of the trigger button on PS4's controller, it seems more likely it's an issue with using a controller instead of M&K.

I'll try to replicate this using a controller on PC, when I have something on it I'll share it here.

Just a note.  I have tested three different controllers.  Same issue on each.  Never had the problem with any of the controllers before.

Just bumping because this is still a problem and no one from EA has responded.

Bumping again because there still has not been an EA response. Still an issue.  I haven't been able to play specialist effectively for quite a long time because of this.
