Stop. They are soooo easy to kill and are pretty weak. If anything they need a buff.
I agree with Phat_Helmet. The ion turrets are far from OP against troopers. In fact, the shots are so bright that you can easily see them from 500 m away, and they're so slow that if you see them, you have plenty of time to run behind cover to avoid being hit.
