JoyToKey with HOTAS?

Per a couple other threads, I downloaded and installed J2K. Pretty simple setup, and now I can (somewhat) use my Thrustmaster FCS system for flight.

However, pitching up or down simply continues to loop in either of those directions; it never 'levels off' when I let go of the stick. I see keywords like 'dead zones' and 'threshold for input' floating around on different forums, but no definitive instructions...what am I missing?

Same kinda goes for the throttle - it's either all the way fast or slow - cannot seem to get it to stick anywhere in between.
