Language Additions
Hello! I talked with an EA customer support person, and a problem that I have is that Battlefront 2 isn't in English. When I bought it, the game store page stated that it would be in English but it'...
Hey @aiviloo0,
I understand the frustration & possible confusion. It's indeed the case that the game is available in English (its official main language), however it's possible that the English option is not available for certain regions.
If you take a look at the Polish page of the game for example, you can see that the game is only available in Polish, which means that it is region/language locked: https://www.origin.com/pol/pl-pl/store/star-wars/star-wars-battlefront-2#store-page-section-overview.
And I am sorry to hear that you're getting mixed answers.
Hi @EA_Leeuw !
First of all thank you for understanding my issue.
Yeah that kind of sucks. I don't understand the store page link because like I said when I originally bought the game the languages were stated to be both Polish and English. After I bought the game and was messing around with my settings it didn't even say English. I'm sending the screenshot I took right before I bought the game.
I get the region locked thing, but when I bought the game it said it would be in both English and Polish. It just seems a bit unfair since what I bought technically wasn't what I got. I would be more upset if I didn't buy it during the sale, but this is still frustrating since now I have to figure out something else when I literally just want the game's text and dubbing to be in English.
If there's anyway I can fix this please let me know, it's just unfair that I can't even play the game in the original language [English] when the store page said it would be both in English and Polish. Again I understand the region locked thing, but that's not what the store page said when I checked it. If EA can please at least give a heads up or fix the store page before someone buys the game, that would be great. I understand region locking is a hard thing to fix in games, but the fact that I can't even play the game in the original language is a little frustrating. I know I'm not the only one with this issue, and I know a lot of people that have this issue would be very grateful if a solution was found.
Again I'm sending the screenshots of the game before I bought it (i sent the first image [one with English and Polish] to a friend before I bought Battlefront 2 because they were warning me about this issue, probably should've bought the game on Steam now that I'm thinking about it) and after (The one with just Polish was taken after I bought it, downloaded it, and opened it showing me that I couldn't change the language.)
Another question I have now is can I buy the game on Steam and have it in English? Because now I see that Steam has it in English but now I'm worried that this same situation is going to happen again and I'll lose $35 for no reason. Or can the EA staff try to find an actual solution like the staff member that emailed me stated?
Sorry for the long message, it's just starting to get a lot more confusing since I just want to play Battlefront 2 in English to be able to understand the game better.
However, thank you for your help with solving this issue and for being patient and kind about it.
Hey @aiviloo0,
Thanks for the provided screenshots.
It seems like you provided a screenshot of the store page of the game while visiting the US/UK storefront. That is indeed where it mentions that it includes the English language. However, since you're located in Poland, you will automatically be redirected to the Polish store when you purchase something. And therefore, you have purchased the Polish version of the game.
The only possibility I can think of that can maybe get you the English version of the game, is to purchase it via Steam. However, I can not say this with 100% certainty as we do not manage the Steam storefront.
Hi @EA_Leeuw !
That sucks that I have to rebuy the game because of a small mistake I made on the store but I get it. I'm assuming I can't get a refund on Origin because I've had the game for a few weeks now?
I was reading about other people's thoughts on this (below,) and I fully agree with what this person said. My friends who play on console and bought the game in region locked countries for Origin, but play perfectly fine in English. Why is it just PC players? If it's legal issue I understand a bit more, but from what I'm understanding it's not that?
"We paid for the game full price, therefore I see NO REASON to make us worse than other players. What's more, console players are able to change audio language. And PC players not? Ridiculous."
Other people in the community agree with this, and I feel like it's just a bit unfair especially being automatically redirected and getting basically ripped off from what they bought. If I knew I wouldn't get English I would've waiting until I went to the U.S, or had a friend pick up the game for me. And now I most likely can't even refund it, and I've already played so I would most likely lose all my progress, unless I can buy it on Steam and have no issue.
If EA's staff can do something about this, kindly do something, because it's a pretty big issue across PC players and I know a lot of people are just disappointed about this.
Sorry for complaining but it's just a bit unfair to a lot of players who were excited to buy this game. However thank you for your help and patience, and for clearing it up a bit more. I hope you have a good day!
@aiviloo0,
If something is region/language locked, then this is the case because EA has to do this because of certain country restrictions. This is unfortunately not something we can chance.
You can check our policy here to see if you're still eligible for a refund: https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/returns-and-cancellations/#policy.
Thanks.
