Launch problem due to display (help !)

Hello,

I hope you can help me.

By launching the game, it switches my display from 1600x1200 (desktop) to 1920x1980 and there, my screen goes black and I no longer have access to anything (no windows key, Alt+Tab or Alt+F4, I'm forced to reset).

Reading a french post, I tried something: go to Documents\STAR WARS Battlefront II\settings\BootOptions, I disabled Directx12 (putting "0" instead of "1"), but that didn't work. I then tried to put the screen in 1600x1200, like my desktop, and there, instead of having a black screen, I saw the game start normally in windowed mode, then clicking on it to play, the display goes back to 1900x1080 and again I find myself stuck.

What to do please ?

My config:

OS: 64-bit Windows 11 Pro

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor 3.70 GHz

Memory: 16GB RAM

Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 6600 8Gb

DirectX: 12

  • It's ok with :

    - Right click on starwarsbattlefrontii.exe (by default C:\Program Files\Origin Games\STAR WARS Battlefront II\starwarsbattlefrontii.exe) - Compatibility - Settings then in Change high DPI settings - DPI scaling override high selects the Override high DPI scaling behavior check box. Scaling performed by: and choose System from the drop-down menu finally finish by clicking on Ok - Apply.

  • I think you're on to something with that windowed mode. Try switching between windowed mode and full screen in the game settings and see what happens.

I suggest you attach a DXDIAG report, as someone may spot something else. A screen-shot of your in-game video settings will also help.

  • I went to C:\Users\username\Documents\STAR WARS Battlefront II\settings, opened the ProfileOptions_profile file, then set the resolution to:

    GstRender.ResolutionHeight 1080

    GstRender.ResolutionWidth 1920

Because the screen switched to 1920x1080 but not the game apparently, then I disabled fullscreen mode:

    stRender.FullscreenEnabled 0

    GstRender.FullscreenMode 0

    GstRender.FullscreenRefreshRate 0.000000

    GstRender.FullscreenScreen 0

When the game launched in windowed mode, I was able to hover over it without it putting the game in fullscreen for me, then I maximized the window, so I'm fullscreen in windowed mode, and I I'm going to go to the game options to switch back to non-windowed fullscreen mode I think. Thanks to you.

  • False joy.

When the game started, I went to the video settings because all the graphics are normal and I have enough to put everything in ultra. I tried to change a single thing and without even hitting apply the game went fullscreen and 1920x1080 and a black screen appeared. So as usual, I had to reset the computer and I couldn't restart the game, even by changing the settings on ProfileOptions_profile. My other BootOptions file is empty.

I think I have to copy a BootOptions file because without it I can't restart, not the same as someone else but just that I have the lines of code to be able to configure my startup.

Then to define the graphic quality, I think I have to do it on the ProfileOptions_profile file, but I don't know what to put (is there anything other than 0s and 1s to put?).

Can you show me your BootOptions and ProfileOptions-profile files please, that I know what to put, then I would change according to my config. If you can also tell me in what resolution you play and what are your graphics (normal, high, ultra...).

The problem is that something keeps wanting to put the game in fullscreen 1920x1080 mode, while I'm in 1600x1200.

Let's start with the 2 suggestions I made prior - DXDIAG and in-game settings screenshot.

  • I don't know what to do, since yesterday I've been trying to send you my data, but the forum doesn't want to publish them. The DxDiag is long, maybe that's why. Which part do you want please ?

sounds like there is a temporary issue. DXDIAG reports get attached all the time.

    Try later.

  • Yes Master !
