LOW FPS with RTX 3080 Asus Strix

I've recently changed my GPU from a GTX 1080 Founder's edition to a RTX 3080 Asus Strix edition. Now the game can't really handle anything higher than Medium on 1440p and i find that very odd. Nowadays i play on low graphic settings for smoother experience when one would think that a top of the line RTX 3080 should be able to run this game without issues on ultra. I think even 1080 was able to run it well on high.

some additional info:

- I've recently reinstalled my windows

- I've done a "clean" install for driver updates from Geforce experience (custom install -> perform clean install)

- I have 16GB of Ram

- Intel 8700k CPU

- GPU has 3 separate PCIe cables powering it, no split connectors.

- I have an Asus Maximum Hero X motherboard (updated BIOS a few months ago)

Any ideas what i could try to fix this? When i set the game on ultra i drop down to 20-30 fps

  • Well i found out the culprit, it wasn't the drivers. The culprit was that the "optimized" settings that i turned on from Geforce experience turned on DirectX 12 and that caused the ridiculous 20 fps on ultra. DirectX12 is smooth on low settings though. Anyhow now i'm getting stable fps with DX11.

    My PSU should be sufficient i am using Corsair RM850x (850w PSU) and it's a brand new too. Also i am confident that it is not faulty since it worked fine with my 1080 Ti GPU

  • I had this exact same issue with my 3080 FE. In DX12 mode the game was essentially UNPLAYABLE (20ish FPS, around 8 FPS in campaign) unless it was all in low. Once DX12 was disabled everything ran great at 60 FPS

    This was also running with an AMD 5950X, did you happen to be running on an Intel or AMD CPU?

    The weird part is the game ran great with DX12 enabled 1080TI and Intel i7 4770K, so it's weird the 3080 would struggle.

    @EA_Barry

    There is a problem with DX 12 in this game, and from what I'm reading around here in the threads, that this is a recent issue that happened within some of the last few updates.

    Please send this information through the channels available to you to the dev team or whatever higher ups you're able to please and ask them to take a closer look at their DX 12 APIs in for this game.
