That Fennec combat scene with the crates was indeed awesome. Great choreography. The scenes in this show are consistently shot with cinematic quality. Dark Trooper scenes gave me serious Terminator vibes.
What an episode.
It's sad that it took The Mandalorian to have Luke do what we all wanted to see him do in the sequel trilogy. Reckon Mark Hamill filmed the scene?
- 5 years ago@UNL1M1T3D_P0W3R Probably.
- 5 years ago@UNL1M1T3D_P0W3R From what I gather, it's Mark Hamill but with digital de-aging. I think it was Star Wars Explained on Youtube that said that. I can't remember. But it seems they did the same as Rogue One did with Leia and Tarkin. Mark Hamill is in the credits, so bare minimum it's him voicing the lines.
- 5 years ago@ArchAngeL-PCX I'm assuming a stunt guy did the action and Hamill did the talking. The de-aging effects were excellent too. Truly didn't expect Luke to appear, then when he did I knew the vision was complete.
With all this Star Wars content coming I might have to actually sign up to Disney + lol. I just hate how devs drip-feed episodes weekly, so annoying. Needs to be buffed. Not working as intended.

@UNL1M1T3D_P0W3RAnd yes, it is sad that sequel trilogy never delivered anything like this. For me it cast a shadow over the entire trilogy. Thankfully, the post ROTJ content is in the hands of Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.
I was thinking yesterday...I've been getting the same feelings with Mandalorian as I had way back in the early 90's. We hadn't had any new SW since ROTJ. No one knew if we'd ever get anything more. Then the Thrawn trilogy showed up and blew everyone's minds. It kicked off the now "Legends" universe which was outstanding overall.
We've been looking for something hopeful for SW since Disney made a "tactical retreat" after the ST and Solo didn't measure up. In comes Mandalorian and blows our minds, setting up a whole new era of SW storytelling. We get Clone Wars restarted with Season 7 and continuing into Bad Batch...future is looking bright for SW!!- 5 years ago@ArchAngeL-PCX Lest us not forget the Lando and Ahsoka series coming up!

They should scrap all the sequels content and continue the Starwars timeline from here

From what I understand of it,
Matt Rugetti ... Luke's stunt double. (For the action scenes)Max Lloyd-Jones ... Lukes actor/double AKA the actor who wore the computer generated mask that put Mark's face over his own.
Mark Hamill ... Luke's original actor contributes the legacy of the character with his former acting contributions. Mark's previous acting footage / images can be cast onto another person's face with the DeepFake technique (- or similar).
Supposedly voice editing was done to make the vocals sound more like Luke as well??? It seems as though Max provided the voice, but I'm not 100% certain.

Your line of thinking seems the same as Disney displayed, early on when it was scraping a bunch of history from Star Wars.
Why would you want to do the exact same thing they did during that time.
Don't you know. An ear for an ear makes the world deaf... I specifically changed this idiom in reference of how Twi'Lek's original creative design was altered for the Mandalorian.- 5 years ago
@DvveeboAt first I was thinking the same as you in regards to the ST, but I'm not so sure anymore. The now "Legends" material was likely to get thrust aside one way or the other even if Lucas did the ST. He never considered books hard canon. Anyone that wanted to do post ROTJ content would have a real problem working it in with the Legends books.
So what happens if they keep building post ROTJ content from here and get an entire universe going that fans are major attached to? What if at the same time they do nothing much in the ST era to reinforce any fandom there?
Do they shift everything to line up with the ST, even if it means trashing current fan favorites, storylines, and other things? I'm not so sure the answer is yes anymore. @ToddyRocket1 may have just thrown down the best early prediction in SW history. lol- 5 years ago

I said; [...] "scraping a bunch of history from Star Wars."
Disney specifically didn't even use G.L's notes nor ideas which he left with them as potential things to work with.
& I pointed out that new material such as Disney's Mandalorian censors Twi's without their original ears which were not Legends' material.
No one has to trash anything. You don't need one or the other when you can have them all. E.G. If you don't like [Ahsoka] - Don't watch her show. Simple as that. Should she have her show canceled because you and 500 others don't like her? No. It's the same thing for any [character] and their Era/show. Disney could have done a lot better at making inclusive decisions. But it's currently doing better than it previously was.
You don't have to trash fan favorites, designs, and story-lines to ""match up to the ST"" when you can literally make up fractured dimensions that allow fans to enjoy something they want to regardless of if it's ""canon"" or not. Rey doing that whole mirror thing, Ezra visiting that Force Machine thing in space, there are materials there to work with to imply that multiple versions of stories could exist. Even just areas that are strong with the Force, such as the cave where Luke faced a version of himself dressed as Darth Vader - such locations could be vessels into mini dimensions/stories - or perceived mini/alternate dimensions. (Pretty sure even the Clone Wars could have used some Night Sister/JarJar voodoo to space-magic-up-some AUs too... Or you know the Mortis Gods that Anakin rejected could have this potential. )
- 5 years ago@Dvveebo ok so they did use Mark Hamill's voice at least. Makes sense for the stunt double. I wasn't sure if it would be him standing there. I suppose it could have worked, but if he's going to wear a mask anyway might as well be a younger double for possibly a better stance.

48 hours later and watching the episode at least 5 times, I'm still geeking out!!! LOL!!!
A couple more things I noticed:
- When Bo Katan is watching the monitor and sees a Jedi robed figure walking down the hall, you can see her hand slowly pull away sort of in disbelief. That's a nice touch.
- Bo Katan got seriously injured by Moff Gideon. She was limping as she got up from his attack. That says to me that she's in no shape to challenge Din for the Darksaber right away. I'm not yet convinced she will ever challenge him. She may end up seeing him as one she'd like to throw support behind.
