What happens when the bug occurs? The "reward" is auto-claimed but it is still locked when accessing the Trooper load-out screen. You must exit the game session (even if you are between actual sessions, as I tried to upgrade/apply weapons between planet map loads) and go to the Collections menu to actually equip/modify the weapons.
What do you expect to see? I expect that if a new weapon/upgrade is unlocked, that I be able to actually apply said unlock at any time I am on the Trooper load-out screen.

While playing my Heavy Trooper, post-1.2, I completed the Target Practice milestone for the DC-15LE, which granted me the Improved Zoom for that particular weapon--or so I had thought. A message popped up on screen the moment I completed the task, stating it was auto-claimed (not sure of the actual verbiage used as I was engaged in mid-fight tea time).
Upon the next meeting of my untimely end which, much like corporate America is all-too-often more frequent than actual work being accomplished, I went to the weapon load-out to apply the Improved Zoom. Much to my dismay, it was greyed out and still padlocked. Access denied. I thought, alright, perhaps they did not want us to access upgrades mid-scenario because...well...honestly I cannot think of a reason. It is not as if some remarkable boost is awarded that will turn the tide of the fight--it's not like it was a pre-1.2 Emperor.
I carried on in my resident role as bullet catcher for my teammates, who seem to be lacking in the joy of diving head first into the fray to solo-disrupt an opposing force's push. Too often, I turn to find myself alone. "Hey guys! You see me take the grenade for you? Guys? Guys?!" But, I digress.
I awaited the end of the match and figured "Well, at least now I'll be able to upgrade that weapon while the new map loads." Nope. Same issue.
Instead of lodging a formal complaint in quadruplicate at the instant, I decided to carry on, as i had a good group with me (OK...let's be honest--I was with them). After all, it's only the second tier Heavy weapon and I was so darn close to getting the tier 3 weapon anyway. Perhaps it was just a fluke with that particular reward.
Well, shortly after exiting to the main menu so I could actually apply the not-so-auto-granted milestone reward, I ended up earning the 200 Heavy Kills milestone, which should have auto-claimed me the FWMB-10K weapon. Unfortunately, the exact same issue of the item not "really" being claimed surfaced. So, once again, I was forced to exit the game back to the main menu, apply the new weapon, and then wait for the multiple countdowns to actually re-enter a new match.
So, while I received a nice little message in real-time, notifying me of the auto-claimed nature of those rewards, it was really just a notification that I was eligible to auto-claim the reward...if I went to the right place, at the right time, and listened to a short three-hour presentation on time shares.
It's kind of like showing up for a car reservation to find they don't actually have a car waiting for you--at least not the one you reserved.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. No, wait...that was just peanut butter.
