Anyone else surprised EA hasn’t announced a new Star Wars game? With all the possibilities in the Star Wars universe, it’s a cash cow sitting on the shelf. And with Disney announcing nearly a dozen new upcoming shows, surely something has to be in the works. Either battlefront 3 or an open world game would be great.
There’s plenty to add to the battlefront games from characters, locations, weapons, factions, stories; the possibilities are truly endless. If they go this route, I hope they take their time making it so they can make a more complete game from the start instead of relying on monthly updates. Battlefront 2 turned into a great game by the end but it tbh it didn’t have enough content at launch to draw people’s attention.
I can’t believe there still isn’t an open world Star Wars game. Fallen Jedi was great but I’m talking GTA/Assassins Creed style open world. I have dreamed of a game that’s free roam on coruscant since I played battlefront 2005 as a kid. Idc if I’m holding a blaster or wielding a lightsaber the entire game, I just want to do whatever I want and go wherever I desire. And now after watching the mandalorian, I’m craving it even more.
I’m so excited for all the new projects that Disney announced but the gaming world for Star Wars seems to be stagnant right now. I didn’t even bother getting Star Wars squadrons. That game seemed like a “Christmas special” of a tv show in video game form. But hopefully EA will announce something new soon.
Don't forget the Fallen Order Sequel, coming 2022 I believe.

Interesting you mentioned Rise to Power. We haven’t got another word regarding development since 2017, the year it was announced.
Capital Games, RtP’s developer, is currently focusing on Galaxy of Heroes, and I’m not sure about their stance regarding Rise.
I in particular am stoked for LEGO Skywalker Saga.
If only we got 1313 and Ragtag...

Wasn't Capital Games looking for a lead project manager for RtP, in 2019? If that was the case - it looks like they still might need that position to be filled? I haven't heard anything changing on this situation, anyways.
While I play differing genres ranging from mmos, sandbox, simulations, puzzles, rhythms, exploration, to action/rpgs, 3rdperson shooters, etc... Personally, I'm not interested in Lego Star Wars Games. (I would have assumed my dislike of LSW games is based on the fact that they are *toy based*, but since I recently had a dream revolving around playing as living toys - something akin to Star Wars: The Black Series action figures, based in a toy-story-esq setting, it seems unlikely that I dislike LEGO games based solely on 'toy theme'. However, unlike LEGO games, my dream had aspects and elements of largescale gameplay. I was in a lobby for an event revolving around escaping/getting from point a to point b, and some other players were already there, climbing around on Christmas lights, using traps to slam other players in a closing trunk door. I was desperately trying to get to an in-game item pickup... which was apparently a Dillybar. & Over the mic, two guys were talking about battlefront, while a third person was talking about what our objectives were for the mode/event that was about to take place on the server. ***Originally, I didn't feel the need to elaborate on this. )
Star Wars in itself is a massive goldmine for potential new game content. The problem is that making money costs money, I learned recently that you can't solve everything with more content...
