That said, I do think in hindsight they realize a huge missed opportunity here. I've long said that I think support was pulled in fall 2019 before Mandalorian came out. The content seems to point to that (ST capital ships have no hangars, OT didn't get capital ships at all, and OT reinforcements were clearly reused assets). But then Mandalorian comes out and is a smash hit. Clone Wars Season 7 comes out and is a smash hit. All the sudden, Star Wars is on fire with an immediate future full of content, and EA is in no position to take advantage of it.
Not to mention that the game is incomplete! There is no split-screen, private matches, cross-play, cross-era heroes, etc.
They abandoned the game and moved on like that!
I seriously doubt we will get a Battlefront III in the future, it will take years for it to be made and I don't want this franchise to be like FIFA with the same physics and formula applied to this game!
I wish this game will receive its final big update next year after Battlefield 6 will be released. After all, they can't develop a next-gen Battlefront title in one year and some months can they?
It's just my opinion by the way, who knows!
- 5 years ago@Player55 Well...I guess they can given how quick they put out Battlefront 2 after Battlefront 2015, but we all know how well that turned out. lol!!!
No I agree, unless they are already working on a Battlefront 3, we may not see one for 3-4 years. That said, Matt Martin of Lucasfilm Storygroup has been on social media of late talking about how excited he is for the future of Star Wars games. Said it's the most excited he's been since 2005. No specifics of course, so again it's "soon" or "hurry up and wait" lol. But maybe EA saw the missed opportunities and put things in motion we don't know about.- 5 years ago
The next Battlefront might be a remaster of the 2005 Battlefront II. I'm not so sure but the fact that he mentioned that he's excited since 2005 implies that there is a chance that there is a remaster of the 2005 Battlefront II game in the works. Eventually, we'll see!
