(Please Read, EA) The Dark Side is a Pathway...
In the Battle on Scarif update, I have noticed a change that has become the source of much controversy.
The patch notes for the update include a section on charge abilities (Rey's Dash Strike, as an example) - here is what is written there: "These [abilities] are now following the direction of the camera, instead of the character model."
This change has made some heroes - Grievous, in particular - much, much stronger than before. With Grievous' Claw Rush being able to knock down opponents, I have witnessed several blaster heroes be completely helpless to this onslaught, as they are knocked down and, thanks to this change, rammed again - resetting the recovery time - before they have a chance to recover. A decent Grievous player is able to diminish anywhere between 33-50% of a blaster hero's health with this ability post-update, and after that, can finish them off with 2-4 swings.
Now, I named this topic "The Dark Side is a Pathway..." as a reference to Palpatine's quote from Revenge of the Sith. "The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be... unnatural." This brings me to a second complaint: the change to charge abilities looks completely unnatural - the speed at which characters are able to turn is ridiculously high. It may seem funny to anyone on the outside for Obi-Wan to use Defensive Rush and spin around in tight circles, but for those who care about such concepts as realism and balance, it just looks wrong.
That is why I would like to propose a slight change. All charge abilities can still be controlled with the mouse, but change the speed to reflect anywhere from 50-75% of the individual player's sensitivity. This would give heroes a decent chance to recover and potentially resume fighting before potentially being knocked over once again.
I must emphasize the importance that no changes be made to negatively affect recovery times. Focus on the abilities - that is the problem.
And to avoid any concerns, I am in full confidence that this would be a change accepted by most, since (and correct me if I'm wrong) every hero with a charge ability has a star card that gives them damage reduction when charging - that means they can take more than a few hits whilst charging. And on top of that, (again, correct me if I'm wrong) all charge abilities can now be canceled by the player.
I implore you to consider making this change... among the many, many other changes needed to this game since the recent update.
Please put DICE back on this game once they're done with Battlefield. This game was just starting to make a comeback.
