I posted somewhere else to see if anyone has any ideas. They'll chime in, if they do.

Yesterday after some frustration at being able to see my friends in-game, but not in EAPlay, I tried this and it worked.
1. Have the person online and chat to them to accept your friend request.
2. View their profile in game and remove them. Then add them right back.
My response was immediate. The friend showed up in EAPlay and is still there the next day.
