Re: 4K Fullscreen 60hz (green screen issue) fix please

I'm having the exact same issue. I have a GTX 1070 and use a 4K TV. When the game first came out I had no issues, then one week later I had this green and purple screen issue when I play in fullscreen or borderless 4K at 60hz. The problem goes away if I lower the resolution or refresh rate. I've tried multiple HDMI cables and another 4K TV, same problem.

I have had this issue with other games recently too, though they have fixed themselves somehow. As of now, the only game I can't run in 4K at 60hz is SWBF2. Could it be a recent driver or windows update? And perhaps specifically with setups that use a TV as a monitor? From my googling around, TVs seem to be troublesome when used as a monitor.

You could be correct about TV however if that is the case then star wars would never have been OK at the start. I was playing fine with the trial and bought the game and played the game fine until the weekend and then..... Green business started.
  • I've just found a fix for it! Disable the Game Bar in the Windows 10 gaming settings.

Absolute genius !!! It did not work at first but I had to turn EVERYTHING OFF, the mouse cursor and everything not just the on/off tab. Its working at the moment, I'm only in the menu screen so I'm yet to play a game but I can see now .... This must be a fix. I Thank you very much for letting me and everybody else know how you did it. Never in a million years would I have thought to do such a thing as turn off the gamebar. You deserve recognition for this, you certainly have my vote, could this also be the problem for many other issues but people have not realised yet??? You may have just fixed swbf2 for millions of people. Credit to you buddy !! Kind regards phill
  • I’m so glad I could help! But I can’t take credit for this since I found the solution in a comment on the Steam forums from four months ago. I made sure to thank the commenter for their post though. 🙂

It looks like this has been an issue across many games since this Game Mode was introduced with the Windows Creator update half a year ago. Also, it seems this Game Bar thing can turn itself back on after a Windows update, so be aware the issue might come back.

Well without you sharing your find then I personally would not be able to play the game I paid for.
I've not experienced it on any of my other games as yet but now if I ever get a green screen then I have a good idea what it could be.
    Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for helping me play my game.
    Thank YOU !!
  • I salute you sir, works perfectly now. Been on to EA support multiple times about this issue, long phone calls and nothing. Read your tip and everything is perfect. Your a gentleman, you have made my day, go raibh míle maith agat

I just installed the latest Windows update and when running Fifa 18 I have started getting this issue. 4K TV, picture goes green and distorted. I have turned the Game Bar off, and it still does it.
With Game Bar on if I bring up the Game Bar the picture goes back to normal, then as soon as it fades away the picture immediately goes to stretch out weird distorted green mode.

Turning off the Game Bar altogether does not work for me... It still distorts. Is anyone else having this issue after the windows update? Is there anything else I need to do to get this thing to work? Or is this a new issue to do with the windows update?

I think you have to reinstall windows to rollback on this update....

    hi

one of the fixes could be unplugging XBOX usb dongle (if you have one)

the fix that worked for me in the newest windows edition was

    1. press Windows+S, type in 'game bar' (no quotes) and choose 'control how game bar opens and recognizes your game'

    2. set 'record game clips...'  to Off

    3. untick/disable Open Game bar using this button (probably not required to fix the issue but no harm)

    4. untick/disable 'Show Game bar when I play full screen games...'

  • It's 2021 and this issue still persists, though it's not limited to EA games. I just encountered the same problem with Doom Eternal and this solution fixed it. Another awesome Microsoft 'feature'!
