I fixed it! After trying literally everything, I realized that I hadn't checked by device manager. Since I sometimes emulate smash bros on this computer my vjoy device and some hid compliant controllers were still enabled. This usually doesn't interfere with any game, however, this is EA and something must go wrong. Disabling erroneous drivers seems to be the way to go if you have this problem

  • Thank you for this update, I'm not the greatest at understanding computers. I was looking into but I'm still confused. How do I do that exactly?

    @ibeatmygoldfish Go to Device Manager > Human Interface Devices, then right click vJoy Device, then click disable. You can always enable it if you ever need it again.
