Re: Battlefront 2 won't launch

I'm having the same issue,

Third time that I've successfully "Fixed" the problem. First fix was fluke, second fix was deleting my SWBF2 folder in my documents.

I wonder how many other people are having the issue and aren't taking to the forums to discuss.

Please fix this EA, as an adult, you don't get much time to yourself, to have to compete with this in those gaps is just downright annoying.

  • There is no fix that works everytime so it's probably just pure luck that the game starts, I have the same problem and sometimes the game will launch after pc restart sometimes it won't, sometimes it launches on 10th try when it didn't before. The game is very poorly optimized and there are very simple issues that haven't been fixed since launch like the afk kick in 2v2 heroes vs villains mode where if you die early in the round you can get kicked before the end of it because of an afk timer that kicks earlier than the round lasts (5 minutes). I doubt there's a real team even working on fixing this game since it's more profitable for EA to have a small skeleton crew trying to fix their sinking ship and from all we have learned during the last few years is that EA and Origin is big joke. Also I'm not trying to make the people that work for them on the forums feel bad but the same responses on every thread when you know and we all know your ''try these few fixes'' don't actually fix anything make people posting here feel like they're talking to an automated tech support that's more useless than admitting there's no fix and the issue is still being resolved ( and I doubt it's even being worked on since I see posts that are 2-3 years old talking about the same issue )

    I had the same issues with the game not starting, just going back to the Origin client after clicking the icon to load StarwarsB2. After trying many different solutions, what I found works for me and might for others, is the following:

    1. Open up Origin and go into settings and disable Origin Helper Service

    2. Exit out of Origin, and open up task manager and verfiy Orgin Helper Service is not running in the background, if it is, kill it

    3. Do the following:

    Delete the specific line "GstRender.ShadowQuality" in the ProfileOptions_profile config and then save it (use a text editor) in the StarWarsBattlefront 2 Documents folder (you'll only have to do this 1 time)

    4. Start Origin, then start the game

    Since doing this I haven't had any more issues of the game not starting. Of course this may not work for everyone, but having had the same exact issues as others with the game not opening up since the last game update and orgin update, I think the issue was the Origin Helper Service running in the background. 3 days and counting, and not a single issue since doing the above steps. Hope this helps others.

    (Still have the in game cutscene bugs where it's not at the right resolution Dice!)

    Knock on wood, the last few days it's launched on the first try.

    Slowly, but on the first try.

    @Portogarnia should be in your Documents Folder, there you should see a Starwars Battlefront 2 folder, then go into settings
  • @r3dawn74 I've got the "Profile Options" and "ProfileOptions_profile_synced"

    I can't seem to find the line of code in either. Even by using Ctrl-F

    After a few days of working fine, today it wouldn't launch again.

    Right clicking the icon and selecting "Run as administrator" worked this time.

    This is getting annoying...

    I have the same issue. Tried everything multiple times over in this thread. Contacted chat support who's genius idea it was to just reinstall the game.

    I'm really at the end of my knowledge.

    Its so * annoying that a huge company like EA cant fix their own product and have us acting like their employees trying to fix their own game.

    Ive been trying for 2 months to fix this game and play but anything I tried (and trust me I did EVERYTHING mentioned in here) didn't work ! 

    EA fix your games!!!!

    You have tried Safe mode?

    on my computer with windows 10 does the game not work. but if i put the game in safe mode windows 8. and the game works without problems for me.

    Thanks for sharing that. Strange workaround fix and quite out of the box thinking.

    We're not asking forum users here to do technical troubleshooting unless they want to out of their free will. One benefit of the forums is to be able to crowdsource information in public view because not everyone's PC rigs will behave the same way. There might not always be a 1 solution for all fix.

    @EA_BlueberryThe fun part is that you didn't actually understand what I told you.

    Your coders/programmers should be able to fix this issue , like all the other gaming companies do.

    Its the first time in my life that I experience such a poor technical support , and the majority of it coming out of players just like me.

    I have been trying for months to play your game. I tried everything possible even safe mode but your game wont launch and what I meant from my first post 

    is that most of the people in here are trying to do YOUR work cause you seem to not have a single clue why this thing happening !

    Also I contacted your live support, it seems that they are just following this thread closely since all the "steps" they told me do was already in here

    (except when they told me to flush my DNS), and I have already tried them 1 by 1.

    Im just very disappointed... A multi BILLION company like EA cant fix their own product.
