I had the same issues with the game not starting, just going back to the Origin client after clicking the icon to load StarwarsB2. After trying many different solutions, what I found works for me and might for others, is the following:
1. Open up Origin and go into settings and disable Origin Helper Service
2. Exit out of Origin, and open up task manager and verfiy Orgin Helper Service is not running in the background, if it is, kill it
3. Do the following:
Delete the specific line "GstRender.ShadowQuality" in the ProfileOptions_profile config and then save it (use a text editor) in the StarWarsBattlefront 2 Documents folder (you'll only have to do this 1 time)
4. Start Origin, then start the game
Since doing this I haven't had any more issues of the game not starting. Of course this may not work for everyone, but having had the same exact issues as others with the game not opening up since the last game update and orgin update, I think the issue was the Origin Helper Service running in the background. 3 days and counting, and not a single issue since doing the above steps. Hope this helps others.
