Re: Battlefront on PC, but thinks it is on a console.

Hey @h3pilot

Could you please remove STAR WARS Battlefront II folder from your documents, clear Origin cache and then try to launch the game again?

Let me know if that worked 🤞

    Hello Ataashi,

I removed the Star Wars Battlefront II folder from my documents folder.

I followed the instructions to clear the Origin caches and restarted my PC.

Relaunched the game, but it still doesn't work.

The home screen is still has game controller hints and will not respond to the mouse.

    Screenshot is attached.

Do you happen to have any other peripheral attached to your PC? Maybe the game is reading another device as a Controller. I suppose it could even be an emulator of some sort. I myself use a software that makes a PS3 controller be read as an Xbox 360 controller, so to become compatible with the game. I suppose a controller emulator could also make the game believe a proper controller is attached, when in reality it's just a software mimicking a controller.

And in my experience, even with both a Controller and M&K attached, I can switch from one to the other with no trouble. The fact that you can't change back to M&K in your setup makes it seem like whatever is acting as a controller is sending input signals constantly, which force the game to recognize it as the actual means of control. In a normal situation with both input methods enabled, if you click with the mouse, the game goes to M&K mode, and then if you press any button with the controller it goes back to Controller mode. If you can't do that it seems more believable that something is really malfunctioning.

So I suggest you first try removing any other peripherals from your PC, except for the Mouse & Keyboard, and try to play the game. If that doesn't work, try shutting down any other software running while the game is on, except for the essential ones, and see if that does the trick. If none of these work, then maybe a repair/reinstallation might be your only way to fix this (but it's unlikely to be an issue with the game IMO).

    Hi @RogueZeroRendar ,

First, thanks for trying to help.

I do have a bunch of flight sim peripherals attached.  Joystick, throttle, rudder pedals, MFDs, Radio Panels.

However, they have been attached for years and not previously been a problem for SWBF2.  The mouse worked before the last update.

Now I see the controller hints on the Home screen and when I click the mouse, there is a screen flicker and I can see the cursor in the middle of the screen for an instant, but then it is gone.  It doesn't move at all.

As for the game being able to switch between a controller and the mouse & keyboard, mine isn't switching to the mouse when I try to use it.

There really ought to be a menu option for players to select what they want to use from a list of what the game thinks it sees.

No emulators installed on the PC.  (I do use DS4Windows on my laptop for X-Plane 11, but it is not, and never has been, on my PC.)

The only change since SWBF2 was last working is the 25 SEP update.  I guess I'll try an uninstall/reinstall.

  • I just bought star-wars battlefront 2 today and I'm having the same issue. I've tried repairing the game and it didn't help at all.

I unplugged my peripherals and started Battlefront 2 and found the mouse worked and the console icons were gone.

I plugged my peripherals back in while Battlefront 2 was running and the mouse kept working.

Played for a while and quit Battlefront and exited Origin.

Restarted Origin and Battlefront and the mouse doesn't work again.

Having to unplug my peripherals every time I want to play SWBF2 is unsatisfactory.

I agree this is frustrating, but I hardly believe this is an issue they'll deal with. The game is full of issues, they are completely overloaded with bugs and other issues to fix, and they even come up with things deemed fixed on their notes that no one asked for (and most of the time with these no one even realised the issue existed in the first place). So unless your issue has a lot of voices behind it, or you're lucky it falls on some dev's hands on occasion, it's probably going to stay here unsolved like many others. I track dozens of unsolved BUGs/issues, some for more then a year.
