You can link your PSN ID to your EA Account just to be able to play and use online services in EA Games on consoles: https://help.ea.com/en-in/help/account/linking-your-origin-account-with-your-psn-id-and-gamertag/
But it doesn't mean you can transfer your progress between PS4 and PC, it's impossible as these are different platforms.

The different platforms thing is not much of an argument. There are a number of heavy-hitter, popular titles that allow you to transfer progress between platforms. Destiny 2 and Call of Duty both come to mind.

I am sure you are correct, for Battlefront II at least. However, I do hope that EA (and everyone else) gets solidly on board with the cross-platform play movement that has been building steam for the last few years, even if it does not benefit this particular game.
