Re: Count Dooku's lightsaber doesn't appear

same problem here i hope it will be fixed

  • I got to play a bit with my brothers-in-law recently, and in all 3 of our games Dooku's Lightsaber was visible as normal. We all play on PC, and our graphics settings are the same (All on Low except Mesh Quality and Effects Quality which are both on medium). I know my PC specs are below the recommended for this game, but I believe theirs (both have the same PC specs) are above the recommended (except in RAM that they have 8GB, but I have 16GB).

Not sure if this will help the investigation of this BUG, but here is my feedback and that of both my brothers-in-law.

I have the same problem! Dooku's saberblade is bugged. Only his. However the bug is appear if the EFFECTS QUALITY is set to LOW. When i changed the setting from low to MEDIUM the saber blade was working correctly. (if you are changing the setting from low to medium while you are playing with Dooku you need to turn your saber off and on, or restart, respawn etc.) The bottom line is on medium there is no visual bug, only on low effects quality. At least for me. I hope this helps to identify the problem.

Thanks for the workaround! I'll definetly test this on my next round of tests to check if it happens here as well.

However, for any console player that might be affected by this, they have no way to change their graphics settings due to DICE's design restricting console players from this feature.

I can say that setting my overall quality to "medium" resolved the issue for me as well.  I am not sure I want to keep it at medium as it drops my FPS from 50-60 down to 35-45.  I may play around with some of the different settings to see if I can keep the saber and get my FPS up a little.

@Geri_m3ster This is important, I always play with "low" in all. Thanks for your tip, I will test in the Medium.

Not sure how you guys can withstand Mesh Quality on low. When I still played SWBF2015 I stumbled upon a video that made me aware of what was crippling my game:

Explanation starts after 1 minute of video. Mesh quality messes with render distance, making far away objects render wrongly, or simply not render at all. If I play Kashyyyk HvV in low Mesh Quality settings, whenever I'm outside the big tree and look inside, I see the sky beyond, like the tree wasn't there, just the entrance. I started playing Battlefront II already knowing this Mesh Quality issue, so I have no idea how much is the impact in performance between low and medium on this setting.

But Effects Quality was something I endured on low quality until a patch long gone. As you might be aware, Boba's concussion rocket visual effects are tied to Effects Quality. In the past, if you had this on low, whenever he used this ability on you, you wouldn't see any visual effects at all, just audio and game effects. However, somehow they managed to change this in a past patch, and now if you have Effects Quality set to low, his concussion rocket will apply a blind effect like that of Leia's grenade, together with a Lando's Smoke Grenade effect that's stuck in the center of your screen. And these effects are honestly much more harmful to the target player then the real effect of swirling the screen like we can see in high quality graphics footage.

I was so infuriated by this change that I started changing graphics options to see if I could at least get rid of this visual effect without putting much more strain on my PC. And I found it: changing Effects Quality to medium solved the issue, and I didn't feel much difference in frame rates.

So these are the reasons I only put Mesh Quality and Effects Quality on medium, and the rest I keep on low. My PC is a chariot compared to the minimum required for SWBFII2017, so I suggest you guys try it as well to see if in your end the game continues as smoothly as with everything set to low. Just for comparison I have a i7-7500U and a GeForce 940MX with 4GB VRAM. A chariot indeed.

Really for me, modifying Effects Quality from low to medium solved the problem. Thank you very much @Geri_m3ster !!!

  • Yea, this change helped me as well. But in arcade playing as Dooku, my screen flashes black. I hope devs will read this and finally patch it when the possible cause of bug is now detected.

  • @TomasisCZ I've seen the flashing black as well. I don't think that is linked to Dooku as I don't play Dooku often but do see this. I would bet it is related to the settings we each have.

I've got this only when I played with Dooku even in HvV. On Naboo, this flashing is especially annoying. But I do agree that it could be somehow connected to our settings.

  • Patch Notes for the Roger Roger Update which is scheduled for the 28th of August 2019 states the following:

Let us hope they got it right and this BUG gets fixed tomorrow.

    Hey Dooku fans,

Are you able to see the lightsaber now?
