Re: error 524, sub account on Xbox live not connecting to the online multiplayer

Error 524 continues to be a problem for my family as well.  I have 2 kids who want to lay this game online with their friends.  Only one account at one time can play, and that is my 15 yo.  EA needs to do a better job of managing this issue and provide some support in plain language that is not hidden behind a generic error code.  I've wasted SO MUCH TIME on this!  Help resolve please.

@CajolingOx310 I'm not quite following what the issue is. Are both trying to play at the same time on the same console or are they using two copies of the game on two different consoles?

Hi - we have exactly the same problem as the ones described above.  We spent a lot of money on Battlefront 2 for my son to play with is friends online.

He has a sub account (family) on XBox One / microsoft which I have relaxed all the restrictions even to the extend of saying he is an adult (which I hate having to do).  He still cannot play online.

However under my account it is no problem to play multi-player online. I agree with all the frustrated parents who have posted on this thread getting the 524 code.  EA - please alter your settings so that sub (family) members can also play multiplayer online on this amazing game!! Thanks

We are having the same issue. Did you get any resolution to this issue?

Same issue here. I have the main account with Gold, my son can’t play BF2 multiplayer on his sub account without getting the 524 error.

I purchased battle front 2 so that’s I can play with my son. Why would EA expects us to have 2 separate live subscriptions. Why can’t they let sub accounts play. How frustrating is this. I have spent hours trying to figure this out. Read through forums downloaded the origin client. Changed Xbox settings. All to no avail. EA the complexity hat you have created for your paying customers is out of control. We cannot use the games that we purchased. Please fix error 524.

@Rickybobbyinc Is his EA Account an underage account? If so then this would explain why he is unable to play the game.

So he doesn’t have an ea account . I bought the game on Xbox live with my account. Would I just have to create an ea account for him? And does that link to his Xbox live account?

@Rickybobbyinc Best thing to do is let him create his own EA and Xbox account, in the long run it's the best course of action and means that his accounts are tied together.

He already has his own xbox account. Hw does he link a new ea account with that Xbox account

@Rickybobbyinc If he has his EA and XBox accounts already linked then unlinking them would result in him losing all progress in games. Best thing to do is go through the settings on the Xbox console and ensure that they are set to adult and that there are no restrictions on the parental account if it is a sub account.

Have done that double checked parental restrictions even went as far as removing him from the family group and putting him as an adult with his own Xbox live account to see if that worked . It did not. But like I said he doesn’t have  a ea account. So if he makes an ea account and links it with his Xbox account should that work? What is this error code anyway? I’ve seen this asked on multiple forums and never answered

@Rickybobbyinc If he has previously played an EA game online then his account is already linked. Does he have Xbox live on the gamertag or playing on a console where the primary account holder does?

Not to be rude but do you read my posts or just skim them? I feel like I’ve said the same thing in every post. He has his own live account yes. He has no problem playing other games. I’ve changed all his settings to adult and still no luck. Does he actually have to buy the game under his own account? Seems like a big rip off if that is the case. It will work with my account he logs in even when my account is still logged in and still says his account is not available to play the game. Had anyone ever got an answer on what that error code is?

@Rickybobbyinc I have read your posts and provide the information you need to solve this. If you have ensured that there are no restrictions on his account and that his EA and Xbox account is set to adult then it is worth speaking with MS to see if there is an issue with his account as if it works on your account but not his then this points to an underage account or an issue with the account privacy settings.

  • Can you provide an answer to my question? Are there any EA accounts going to respond to this page as it would seem that you've given up replying to people.
