Ok, I can confirm is indeed what I thought. Triple XP event just makes Hero Showdown revert to normal Hero Mode XP gain.
To make myself clearer: Damage Points are directly associated with how much Damage you inflicted (there are exceptions). As a trooper in a mode that has troopers, you'll get as many Damage Points as the Damage you inflicted on the enemy. But if you grab a Hero, your point gain is divided by 10 in these large modes.
In Hero Mode, as everyone is using a Hero, points are then multiplied by 10. Why not just removing the /10 to begin with, I don't know. But Damage Points in HvV are as follows: Damage Inflicted divided by 10 (rounded up) and then multiplied by 10.
In Hero Showdown, as a measure to award players more XP as the mode is usually very fast and yields a small amount of points, the points are further multiplied by 3. So: Damage Inflicted divided by 10 (rounded up) and then multiplied by 10, and finally multiplied by 3.
However, upon playing Hero Showdown on Triple XP Events, the XP instead of getting tripled, gets divided by 3, back to the value you usually get by playing HvV without XP multiplier events. This isn't only not promoting Hero Showdown as all other modes, but also penalising the players who play there.

Can you forward that to the team? I have the video evidence here but I can't upload it right now unfortunately. Will do later.
