Re: Exp getting cut in Hero Showdown during Exp-Event

I've been seeing this complaint more and more all the time. I'll test it rn and bring evidence to this.

Hero Showdown rules enforce a triple XP policy already, it's its default XP gain method. Reading the complaints it seems that instead of increasing even more, Hero Showdown is instead decreasing it. I'd bet it's ignoring the XP gain to begin with and coming back to normal Hero Mode XP gain (which is 10x the amount you'd get in CS or GA while using a hero).

Ok, I can confirm is indeed what I thought. Triple XP event just makes Hero Showdown revert to normal Hero Mode XP gain.

To make myself clearer: Damage Points are directly associated with how much Damage you inflicted (there are exceptions). As a trooper in a mode that has troopers, you'll get as many Damage Points as the Damage you inflicted on the enemy. But if you grab a Hero, your point gain is divided by 10 in these large modes.

In Hero Mode, as everyone is using a Hero, points are then multiplied by 10. Why not just removing the /10 to begin with, I don't know. But Damage Points in HvV are as follows: Damage Inflicted divided by 10 (rounded up) and then multiplied by 10.

In Hero Showdown, as a measure to award players more XP as the mode is usually very fast and yields a small amount of points, the points are further multiplied by 3. So: Damage Inflicted divided by 10 (rounded up) and then multiplied by 10, and finally multiplied by 3.

However, upon playing Hero Showdown on Triple XP Events, the XP instead of getting tripled, gets divided by 3, back to the value you usually get by playing HvV without XP multiplier events. This isn't only not promoting Hero Showdown as all other modes, but also penalising the players who play there.

Can you forward that to the team? I have the video evidence here but I can't upload it right now unfortunately. Will do later.

@RogueZeroRendar Thanks for testing this out! This bug has been around for a while now so It was finally time to adress it since they don't fix it. I hope they will soon.
  • Ok here it is:

During the course of the video, which was recorded yesterday, you can see point gain is pretty much the same as in normal HvV. For Showdown players it'll be clear points are reduced. As an example, the points shown on screen (which don't get multiplied by 10 BTW, only in the scoreboard they get multiplied by 10) for Rey's Dash Strike hitting an enemy which doesn't have temporary health, or Damage Reduction, should be of 39 points in Normal Hero Showdown gameplay. During triple XP it should then be 117. But in this video you can see it's 13, the amount HvV players usually see in normal days, not showdown players.

This event is instead a One Third XP event for Showdown players, where they get 3 times LESS XP then in normal days.

We now have the same issue but with the double XP event.

While in the Triple XP event we had a One Third XP event on Hero Showdown, now the Double XP event actually doubles it! The 1/3 value one.

So now in Double XP, Hero Showdown players are experiencing the Two Thirds XP event.

In this event, the extra points are given only in the EoR screen. So while playing, you'll see the same 1/3 gain as of yesterday during Triple XP event. However, upon ending, your XP gets doubled during the EoR Screen.

So 1/3 of the points gained then doubled during EoR equals to Two Thirds XP Event.

@Straatford87 anything to share on this issue?
