You should be using EA app now, not Origin.

1. Open EA app and look in the upper right. You should see your player ID.
2. Click the down arrow next to your player ID.
3. Select Settings.
4. Click on the "Application" tab at the top.
5. Scroll down to "In-game overlay"
6. Toggle it off.

But then if you disable the Origin overlay, how do you invite or receive invites? 

This game has to be one of the most frustrating when it comes to bugs. ☹️

What is "it"? Checkbox for overlay?

yes, but the problem fixed itself after i turned it on and off a few times, but wite the solution,  it might help someone else
