Re: Game do not open after patch 1.2

Go to the folder where the starwarsbattlefrontii.exe is located. Delete the "Patch" folder there. Now go back to Origin, right click Battlefront 2, and repair game. It will download the folder again and when it's done, click play.

Mine started now aswell.  Ididn´t do anything sience yesterday (but yes I have done repairs, cleaning origin and so on). My suspicions though, is that this issue with too many devices thing that some of you got. Only some of us didn´t get that message. I started BF2 before patch and then after the patch it didn´t run but now 24h later it just works. Hopefully everyone who has this issue will be up and running soon.

Unfortunately the @VirtualSpark tip isn't working for me.

When you say you didn't do anything yesterday you mean launching the game and so on ?

  • Aw. It may have also been the 24 hour thing but I have no idea. Good luck though, I hope you get it working.

  • Had the same problem yesterday.

First remove the 2 exe files of the game and did a repair in Origin > no solution

Remove and re-install my graphics driver > no solution

Remove and re-install Origin > no solution.

Disable my antivirus (F-Secure) > no solution

Remove entire game and download it again (65 gb's at a downloadspeed of 2 a 3 mb's/second while I have a 200 mbit fiber connection)

It seems that the last action solved the problem but I doubt it because other players did't do anything and they could play the game after a while.

I think that the problem was on the server side of the game.

At last I can play again but still have the issue with the duplicate credits that aren't awarded.

  • Well...

Spent many hours trying to get it working. I re-installed all I could. Even my OS.

Then yesterday Support got back to me (actually a very helpfull and nice tech-supporter with quick responses to my additional question via email). But all in all they said my problem with the game was my CPU. It was just below the required CPU for the game and patch 1.2 might have rendered my otherwise working CPU, useless in running the game. I have Intel i5-3350P and required is i5-6600. The tech support gave me a last option to try out, but otherwise adviced me to play on a PC that was up to specs, or in other words: Upgrade my PC.

I ordered a new CPU that was above recommendations(i7-3770) and today, guess what...my game works! And I havent even received my new CPU yet. My old one still works just fine with the game.

I guess my problem was the same as some of the others here. The "too many users playing" error must have occured, but no message about it in the game or in origin. Just that annoying play button changing colour.

So! Before any of you that are still having troubles launching go out and upgrade your hardware, give your game a 24hour rest and try again! Its way cheaper this way 😉

@Lucien1969 Follow these steps and you will be able to run your game smoothly:

    1. Open Origin

    2. Disable your internet connection

    3. Click on 'Play' (the game should launch now)

    4. Enable your internet connection and enjoy!

  • @ReyIsBae1989

Thanks for the tip. At this moment the game works again after a full uninstall and new install.

So I downloaded 65 gb for the third time within a week 😠

Next time I shall try your solution ReyIsBae.

    Thanks again.
