@EA_Ataashi used to get this bug when I played with DC15LE with reduced recoil and improved zoom equipped. Sometimes at spawn I could notice that the main weapon was weirdly positioned - shifted higher. Whenever that was the case, deploying into sentry mode (explosive sentry) did not change camera to 3rd person and I was stuck with first person view (did not really bother me as it allowed me to aim more precisely, but it's still a glitch). I did not encounter this glitch since the last patch as I switched improved zoom for explosive shot (That also took care of the problem persistent since game launch in November - unstable improved zoom crosshair.)

So I think it's not problem with Sentry, but with camera as the glitch can be recognized as soon as the player spawns with weird gun position.
