I wouldn't say the game is dying, I see lots of low level players coming in, so the game is still going on ok.

Hackers are a thing obviously (they have always been), but they're not as common as people claim. They generally stick to GA (or Supremacy sometimes), so you don't have to worry about them when you are not playing those game modes.
After a while though you'll eventually learn the names of all the hackers, they are always the same few players, so it doesn't take much to recognize them, which means that you'll just have to change lobby when you see them; not a big deal honestly.
