@EA_AtaashiI just completed the game update after restarting the Origin game client and the game is still crashing before fully launching.
Let me know if you have any further suggestions before I attempt a complete reinstall of Origin and the games on my account. Thanks again!

Updated the game and now can't play, stuck on loading screen, then the game closes back to desktop without any message.
- ggibb657 years agoHero (Retired)@strongbow - I don't think the removal & reinstall of Origin as in my previous post affects the games as long as you don't delete the "origin games" folder. They should still be in your library when origin is relaunched.

It's fixed, looks like it was heavy server load.

I'm having similar problems.
when I click 'Play' it's doing some processing and I can see the .exe. in the task manager but the game never loads; it stays in desktop (win 7). After a few seconds the .exe is gone from task manager and the Origin launcher is shown again on the desktop (the launcher is just minimised before this).
Have tried repairing and resinstalling Origin the repointing the game install dir to where I have BF2 installed and repairing again. No effect.
Really annoying to have to deal with this kind of thing; it's only happened since the Geonosis patch.
- ggibb657 years agoHero (Retired)@Ravudha - What Dir is your game installed & Have you tried deleting the origin cache files?

hi ggibb65
My game is installed in: E:\Origin Games
I just tried deleting the cache files (the programdata and local/roaming) directories - no change. The only difference is when I started origin after that it had game library pointed to E:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games, so I changed it back to E:\Origin Games.
It runs starwarsbattlefrontii.exe in task manager but stops it after a few seconds and never goes from desktop into the actual game.
- Stripperino7 years agoNot applicableI did the update. And it still doesn't work. I'm looking forward to grade my system up to windows 10.

After the update, I am having the same problem. I took a quick video showing what is happening with Origin and the W10 task manager open. This board won't let me upload the MP4 or save the embedded code from the hosting website. Here is the direct link: https://streamable.com/s/ug65b/xnseh
You can see when I try to run SWBF2 that the Task Manager tries to open up 2 Processes (STAR WARS Battlefront II and activation UI). They both open up for about 3 seconds and then close down. You can also see Origin open back up after they crash. No physical window opens up anymore at all. On the bright side, it's not crashing my computer like it was before. It would literally shut it down when it failed to open.
BTW: Activation UI is allowed and not blocked by my firewall. That was the first thing I checked.

@Bohica1s1k I had the issue of the starwarsbattlefrontii.exe process starting then shutting down after a few seconds. Tried disabling firewall and antivirus while doing it, no change.
I decided to uninstall Origin and BF2 and reinstall from scratch. It seems to work now, but I'm not sure if a full reinstall is the solution.
When it reinstalled I did need to allow a new copy of the main .exe process through my firewall. Maybe try removing the BF2 processes from your firewall and re-allowing them when bf2 launches again (like resetting the firewall permissions). Worth a shot instead of a full reinstall.
- ggibb657 years agoHero (Retired)@Ravudha - It might seem silly but when you select the game, Right click on it and run as administrator. What you describe re task manager is the same as many programs that require administrator permissions.

@STR0NGB0W @Ravudha @Bohica1s1k @Schnorrbert1992 @Stripperino - Hi again to all. One of the things we have not checked for errors is the windows software.(7 or 10) and or your HDD's. Go to this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system and follow the instructions. After completed, stay in the administrator command prompt and run chkdsk c: /f /r. Both these checks may take a while but will rule out (or in) Windows/disk errors.

@Ravudha Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, no luck. I just tried it again to be on the safe side. Before I posted on this board, I did originally remove my Firewall and AV from my computer and ran a registry cleaner to make sure it was all gone. Then tried a clean install of Origin and games without any of my firewall stuff installed. No luck either way.
Unless someone comes up with a magical fix, I have spent more time on trying to fix this than simply formatting my system and reinstalling everything from scratch. I plan on doing this over the weekend. I am also running the SFC to check any drive issues but it's a fairly new SSD and everything else runs fine.
Thanks for the help. I will report back if SFC fixes it or if a clean format fixes it. If that doesn't, then maybe there is some other hardware error despite diagnostics coming back clean. \

@Bohica1s1k Is Windows installed on the SSD? Had problems with other games solved when I made a new partition on the SSD. Maybe worth a try before reinstalling everything.

@KplusU2- I notice at the end of your DXdiag file a number of errors msgs.
Are you running any hardware overclocking/monitoring software from your video/hardware. If so,turn it off, then try the game.
Also you might try the built in hardware troubleshooter in Win10. go to settings, click on update&security - troubleshoot - Hardware&Devices - Run troubleshooter.
You might also run the System File Checker (SFC) then CHKDSK /f as per my prior post to others. - Anonymous7 years agoNot applicable

Also I have msi and Turner not running when I play the game. I just have my fan on 100% is all.

@KplusU2- that was quick!!!
When did your problem with SWBF2 start? And when you said it "won't keep playing" - what do you mean? - Anonymous7 years agoNot applicable
Sincr I first downloaded it. I first had a problem with it being on diretx12 then I got that handled and got it to start. Then I got about 2 hours into the campaign and it froze my system. So I restarted it and I couldn't start the the campaign mode again. It would just close swbf2. So I deleted it and origins and redownloaded and installed them (3 times all together with trying to repair and validation). So when I restart it I finally get campaign to load and it plays 2-3 quick deaths and then it won't load and I have to close the game out and restart my system. It freezes sometimes when it is in campaign mode and any mode other than hero vs villians but it has started to freeze now when I play it and I have to restart.
- ggibb657 years agoHero (Retired)@KplusU2 - thanks. I notice you are also using an LG TV as a monitor, Have you tried a standard PC monitor?

I can play shadow of the tomb raider with no problems on 1080. This is the only game I have a problem with to for reference.

@KplusU2- Your DXD file tells me that you are running at 3840 x 2160 (32 bit) (60Hz) resolution. Try turning this down to 1920 x 1080. Also if you can get the game to at least load, go to Options - Video and check what resolution the game is set at.
I am going to be a real pain but can you tell me the detail of how your PC is connected to your TV. Your TV is RVU compliant. Are you connecting through a Genie DVR?Also try disabling the Origin In-game-overlay (Application settings/origin in game/Enable origin in game/off)
