Re: SWBF2 Crashes Upon Launching (Unable to Play)

To all that have posted in this thread - I have not seen many updates. Is your problem fixed or have you put it in the too hard basket? If your problem has been fixed, please tell us how so others may try it. Most of the outstanding are Win 7 users and a few have dual monitors.

There are a couple of basics I would like you to ask yourself - If you were able to play the game before your problem started:

What changed? - Hardware, software or simply updates.

For those that have not been able to even load the game: Were you having any issues such as blue screens, problems loading other software/games or getting the occasional error message.

For all: Is your network wireless or Lan cable? Have you done a speed test?. Have you changed ISP's or even modem/routers? What is the condition of your HDD? Repeating what I said before - Were you having any issues such as blue screens, problems loading other software/games or getting the occasional error message?

For Win 7 users - check out this link https://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/77293-tips-troubleshooting-game-issues.html

I know a lot of this may seem like repetition but if it helps to fix your problem????

With your help,I would like to concentrate on those that still have a problem.

Thanks

Hi, I have the same problem. The game worked fine a few days ago. Today after there was a game update it stopped working. I get a black screen and than the game crashes and I am back in the origin app. I have a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit machine with a dual monitor setup. Hope someone can help.

Hm, I looked at the BootOptions and GstRender.EnableDx12 was set to 0 as it should have been. I tried and set it to 1. After that I was able to start the game and play a few maps. Unfortunately I experienced 2 blue screen crashes while playing.

    @Russell_Nash72- Hi

Run DXdiag and post the text file here. If you don't know how : Win key + R, type in DXdiag and run. Select the save all information button and the file DXdiag.txt will be saved in your documents folder. This file DOES NOT HAVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION - just your system setup and some Windows Error information that may help in pinpointing your problem.

@Russell_Nash72Thanks. Many people posting similar problems in this forum are using dual monitor setups.

SWBF2 is resource hungry & utilises a large amount of your GPU. Using dual monitors may put too much stress on the GPU. Try disconnecting one of them. Even though it worked prior to the last update (which was not major), the update might have been enough to tip your GPU over the edge.

On the Windows Error Reports at the end of your file, WER1, 2 & 3 were bluescreen errors - these are usually caused by bad drivers or windows updates. 1st suggest you do the following:

run command prompt in administrator mode the type in SFC /scannow - this verifies your windows files and checks any for corruption. It can take a while. Still in command prompt run CHKDSK /f on your boot disk and any that hold your game files.

If none of these find any errors the go to settings/update&security/troubleshoot and run all relevant troubleshooters (any to do with sound, display, network/internet, App compatibility & windows update - the last 3 errors on your dxdiag were update related)

Also make sure you have the latest drivers installed for you video and sound.

Once you have tried all this, let me know how it went. If you are still having problems, there are other things we can try.

When you reply, if you key in my Tag @ggibb65, I will get a notification via email of your post and be able to get back to you a lot quicker.

Thank you very much for all the instructions  @ggibb65

It will take some time to go through all of them. I finished the sfc/scannow and got something like this (translated from German): the windows resource protection has found damaged files, parts of which could not be repaired.

I have attached the log file to this post.

@ggibb65 - Thanks again. I did options 1 and 3 from the website. The log files are attached (I deleted all the old stuff in the CBS log) I couldn't do option 2 because I do not have an installation disk for Windows 10 (I did the upgrade from 7 to 10 when it was free). Option 1 again gave me 'Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them'

CHKDSK for drive C and D came back with no errors.

I still have to go through all the relevant troubleshooters.

@ggibb65 Sorry for the late reply, but i did not get any notification.

I have done all the troubleshooting, but nothing was found.

Thanks for your support and merry Christmas..

@Russell_Nash72And a merry Christmas to you & your family. I forgot to mention prior that you don't need to have the win 10 disk to go into recovery/repair mode. Just interrupt windows boot 3 times and it will automatically go into repair mode. Go through the menus to advanced (I'm sorry, it's been a while since I used the repair mode so I can't remember the exact order of menus to walk you through it) . DO NOT RESET YOUR PC as this will do a new installation and you will not have your program/data files. You are just looking for the command prompt so you can run the option that you missed on the link I gave you.

I will continue to research your problem but my posts may be a little spasmodic for the holiday season. Family things will limit my time.

@ggibb65  I managed to do option 2 now. There is an easier way to get into safe mode. Just press "Shift" while you click on "Restart". Unfortunately option 2 still didn't work. I got the following message "Not enough memory resources are available to process this command." I googled and found that this is a bug in the 1803 release. I installed the 1809 release and this fixed the Battlefront 2 issue. Now the game starts with DirectX 12 disabled and I didn't get any crashes during several maps I played.

    Thanks again for your support.

    Howdy, folks!

Yowza, looks like a lot of us have had trouble getting Battlefront II to play. I have a similar issue to some of y'all, and hope that by posting in this thread someone might have some ideas. I'll include the DxDiag file.

What happens is I launch the game, I see its process start up in the Windows task manager, but then it disappears after a few seconds without actually loading in (i.e., no menus or other game screen ever appear) and Origin pops back up.

The game is new to me (since Christmas) and I've never gotten it to load. I have run the game's repair feature and checked for both Origin and Star Wars updates.

Any clues on what I could try? (Ah, PC gaming! haha)

    Thank you in advance!

When you go into your documents folder and then go to the "Star Wars Battlefront II" folder and you see Boot Options, open it with Notepad. If the first line says GstRender.EnableDx12 1, then just change it to GstRender.EnableDx12 0. If this doesn't fix the problem, then try setting both the Origin client and the game to run as admin each time, then see if it works. This issue sounds a bit different than mine.

    Hello!

I'm having similiar problems with the game on my PC - never started it here before and I've tried a myriad fixes, but so far none work. The only difference is my PC is not entirely up to spec, the CPU is AMD FX-6300 where the minimum is 6350. What drives me to try and launch is it I've seen the game run on this CPU a few times on the internet and I wanna know if I'm not wrong in pursuing this.

    Attacked is my DXdiag.

Thanks for your help in advance!

    hello everyone

I have this annoying problem since I bought and installed the game for the first time

I also wrote about 3 topics related to this problem but I didn't find the solution

    what I tried:

reinstalling origin 2 times, reinstalling the game 2 times, deleting origin cache for many times, deleting game cache for 3 times, turning off in game overlays, run as admin, turning off dx12,repairing the game 4 times and...

    I'm using a gtx 1060 6gb,Intel core i7 2600k,16 gb ram and a 1080p monitor

    (my gpu driver is updated)
