I liked it much better then the first one.... I was so expecting something more like the original xbox 2 SW Battlefronts when I purchased the Battlefront reboot I was cresftfallen. I hated the mario-kart style "find-a-hero"

I really wanted - still want - the original 1 & 2's bases that needed to be controlled/defended/attacked. Not the forced progression we have now.

So, for several reasons, I like this BFII better then the last - but not nearly as much as the originals.

That being said, this one has endless issues, many of which I agree on from the article. It's so brutal to a) start playing this game and then b) to get stuck with people who just started playing. You see all the areas where they wanted new players to spend $$$ to advance quickly to be on par with people who had better equipment.... and getting rid of that, now you jut have new players getting devastated. Not that I want micro-transactions - but without them you see can clearly see the sub-par gaming experience it delivers.

No wonder the community isn't growing... and that's really sad. I have no hopes now that a BF 3 would do any better, they've killed it until another developer can get their hands on the IP and deliver the SW BF experience we're looking for.

I bought a new Xbox One (2015) when EA presented SW: Battlefront and I also purchased the Deluxe Trooper Edition. Then having to purchase the Season Pass because there was very little content to keep me interested. Then I reached the top level fast for playing it constantly Hence if I didn't make myself clear yet, I purchased an entire console to play one game in November 2015. And yet there were so many issues with that game, I didn't bother with searching for a forum, because it was useless even with Microsoft Xbox with reporting cheating.

I only wish I had kept the video captures of players cheating on Xbox. Despite all that, I pre-ordered this one with the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition, and that is or will be my last mistake. But at least for this one, I have taken the time to document everything, and capture nearly 384gb of video and screen shot capture, and pdf documents of interactions.

Agreed. I wish the game reached its potential but there are clearly high-level decisions made by non-gamers that have screwed the game.

1. No chat in lobby - how you omit such a fundamental feature is beyond me. Proof EA is run by suits.

2. Missing or extremely bad match balancing - no explanation needed.

3. No combat log - the biggest killer in all matches now, as with BF1, is hackers and the suspicion of hackers with 'absolutely no way to verify it'. Players are left feeling like * wondering if they're being cheated.

4. Minimal community engagement and transparency from EA. Instead of open dialogue and engaging with posts they decide to be generally silent, and wonder why no one trusts them when they say 'we put players first'.

I believe that Dave Thier , Contributor for the magazine Forbes stated it best in the article, under Misfire
"There is no joy in the failure of Star Wars Battlefront 2. It is a game that manages to excise both the fun and the drama from the original game for something that feels like far more but far less. It is larger but less grand, more detailed but more opaque, deeper on one level but far more ponderous on another. It is successful neither as a Battlefield-style online shooter nor as an approachable arcade experience. That your time with this game is defined by a byzantine and oppressive progression system does not help, nor does the ever-present specter of microtransactions sure to return soon. But this would not be a successful game even if these problems were solved. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is the prequel trilogy: overwrought and complicated, with none of the heart that drew us here in the first place."
