Slow motion/wonky controls for character & drone

im also experiencing slow motion and wonky drone controls. i have tried running it in compatibility mode, same result. i have the latest nvidia driver and latest windows 10. i dont play online, only the campaign mode, my internet is a fast connection at 72mbps, also direct x 12 is disabled. My cpu usage sits at 100% with this game! that is the problem, a memory leak possibly

5.13 GHZ i7 8700k

11 GB STRIX NVIDIA 1080Ti

1000 watt EVGA PSU

2 TB SAMSUNG EVO

LIQUID COOLING

35" CURVED ACER PREDATOR 3440 X 1440 MONITOR @120HZ

**DxDiag FILE ATTACHED !!

**INTERNET SPEED TEST RESULTS ATTACHED!

**SCREENSHOT SHOWING 88% CPU USAGE

[Edit: I've removed the caps lock from the title so it can be found more easily in the future!]

  • ok so i was finally able to try playing with nvidia thingy displaying my fps.  throughout the entire mission in the woods/forest in the beginning of the game, i get a solid 35-40 fps regardless of decreasing the resolution to anything lower than 3440x1440, or disabling all the effects but as soon i got to fly the tie fighter, i started getting 95-100fps. so it must just be the forest mission thats damaged. i heard of a similar issue with the 2nd tomb raider game a few years back. everyone, even with the fastest gpu's couldnt run the forest mission without constant stuttering or low fps. funny thing is, back then i was able to run the tomb raider forest mission fine with my 2 gig amd radeon 6970m lol must have only affected nvidia users at the time.  i also updated to nvidias latest driver today which didnt do for the forest mission but is working great with the tie fighter flying mission. ill post back as i progress through the game more. thanx!

  • still not one comment from anybody lol???

ill  guess ill just get a refund on this game (and recommend all others do the same) since nobody wants to fix it. my rig can play any game at max resolution on ultra settings, yet this game plays in slow motion and uses 100% cpu usage. totally unoptimized

Sorry @acuraice I have just come across your post and complement you on the detail you have provided but one thing I would like to see before I comment too much, is a game clip of the problem if that is possible. You might also try a lower graphics mode or even a windowed mode & turn off the Origin in game overlay to see if any make a difference.

  • thank you for your response!! i have also tried disabling the origin overlay as i do with steam and uplay also bc they are known to cause issues. i also recorded a game clip showing the slow motion in action but it was too large to upload here or anywhere for that matter. i can try again by reducing the recording quality. there are a few other posts with the exact same complaints as me. slow motion character movement, wonky controls at least for the drone in the begging part. i recently installed the game and then rcvd an update for it. some say its the recent update that s causing these issues but im unsure how to revert to the previous build, something very easy to do with steam of course.

@acuraice- have you tried repair in Origin? If the last update was corrupted, this might fix it. The quality of the video doesn't worry me, I just wan't to see how the character moves. You may try a clean boot of your PC to see if any other program is interfering.  In your task manager clip, I saw that the game itself was using 88% CPU.  What is using the most of the remainder?

The Anakin update is coming out today (27th). Install it and see if your problem changed.

  • yes sir, i have tried to repair the game through origin many times, same result of course. hopefully with this new anakin update it will magically fix as these types of issues do sometimes with updates. ill report back if its any better after the update

  • only a few tasks run in the background that dont put a dent in my 32 gigs of ddr4 ram. its the game that chews up to 100% with running with only windows system processes running in the background. i have disabled almost all of the annoying useless bloatware crap that comes with windows and indexing is also turned off to maximize performance. power saving mode is disabled and pwm mode is enabled in the bios. this computer is blazingly fast and plays any game on ultra settings but for some reason this game runs in slow motion as many others have also reported.

    @acuraice

This is an "outside of the box" idea. Pull up task manager & go to the details tab. Right click on SWBFII and click on "set affinity". Deselect "all processors" and reduce the number selected to 8 or less. Windows will allocate it's resources to the other cores. If there is no difference, you can return the selections to original.

Also, you might right click on the task manager processes tab and select GPU adding this column. You will be able to see what load your GPU is taking.

What are your FPS when the problem happens?

  • ive tried adjusting the affinity setting with many games in the past but i have not yet tried this while running battlefront 2.  i'll def try this next

  • hey bud, i just got around to trying your suggestion by reducing the number of processors in the affinity setting but nope, same result slow motion everything.

I do have the anakin update installed and that seemed to also make no difference. Everything form switching weapons to walking, running or shooting is in slow motion. The weird thing is, the second the 2nd level loads up in the campaign where ur in the woods, it performs well for about 2-3 seconds. then the minute u take a few steps it goes into slow motion mode. could be the foliage settings are turned up too high, but ive tried reducing the resolution and settings to low and it still is in slow motion. Also sitll using 80% or higher of the cpu while running the game and origin together. of course the geforce experience app tells me im already running the game on optimized settings lol this has definitely got ot be a bug or glitch form the game itself. all other games runs well.
