This bug was especially bad for me during the heroes unleashed battlepoint event last weekend. At one point I had it 4/6 matches. One of those times I went into arcade to see if the glitch was still there. It was still there, but I noticed something odd. I would get my audio back for a few seconds. At first I thought it was the map I was playing on but then I turned the number of bots down.
What I found out is that every time a bullet is fired the sound will go mute for a few seconds. This means if nobody fires their gun (or uses certain abilities) you will get your sound back.
I got the glitch again today and did some recording. I've recorded every class available in arcade and what abilities of theirs make the game go mute. The worst offender is Emperor Palpatine, all of his abilities, even his melee attack, forward combat roll, and reverse combat roll make the game go mute.
Here is a video of the assault class in arcade it showcases what I'm talking about very well:
I hope this helps identify the issue. Please note that this is not the cause of the bug but this video captures its odd effects. I will post more videos later, I'm going to be working on a compilation of the glitches effects on each class.
Interesting note: The First Order Flametrooper cannot make the game go mute. None of his abilities or weapons make the game go mute.
Because literally every single gun in the game causes the game to go mute this makes it seem like the game is mute for the entire match. I don't think there will ever be a period of time during an online match where nobody will be firing a gun so this will essentially mute your game for the entire match. You'll get your sound back on the spawn screen, but if a single person fires their gun (or in Palpatine's case, does something as simple as a forward combat roll) you can kiss your audio goodbye.
Now if you don't believe what I'm saying, next time you get the sound bug, before you restart the game, go into arcade, set it to 2 v 2 team battle (with easy AI), and watch as you get the exact same results as me. If you resort to melee attacks only you'll have sound (unless any of the AI fire their gun)
EDIT:
Please note that the bug can make the game go mute completely, I like to call it stage 2 of the bug. You'll know you are at stage 2 of the bug when the UI doesn't make noise any more. This happened to me when I was experimenting with it the first time, I changed the game to be windowed borderless and the sound went away completely.
Also, like I mentioned before Palpatine is by far the worst offender. Every ability he has (Dark Aura, Chain Lightning, Electrocute, Standard Lighting [for even a millisecond], and his Melee attack) mutes the game. Now to make matters worse if he combat rolls forwards or backwards it also makes the game go mute. Whatever property palpatine has on everything should be thoroughly investigated. The differences between his melee attacks and others should make it easy to track down what property is affected by this glitch. Also the difference between his and others combat roll forwards / backwards (which is a sound that I think only happens a fraction of the time, but the game mutes every time he combat rolls) should also be thoroughly investigated. Now you are probably wondering why I typed all of this, well I uploaded a video because I thought it was important enough to show you before I make the compilation.
Edit: 10/11/2018
I've been poking around in the files and I've noticed that every ability that mutes the game that I have checked so far (Vader's Lightsaber throw, palpatine's combat roll (its called forcedash in the files), palpatine's lightning, palpatine's melee, and yoda's dash) uses the soundpatchasset named "SW02_Characters_Powers_SourcePatch_01" this makes me think this soundpatchasset breaks when the sound bug occurs. I'm sure all guns use a single soundpatchasset as well, the only one I've found so far is "SW02_Weapons_SourcePatches_MasterBlaster" but I only checked the CR2. It could break as well. Also the flametrooper does not use a soundpatchasset for his flamethrower attack which would explain why it wasn't affected.
