Sprint bug
Product: Star Wars Battlefront II Platform:Microsoft XBOX One What is your issue related to? General Summarize your bug Sprint button doesn’t work.... What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name...
There's this report here about the same issue: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Not-able-to-sprint-as-a-Hero/m-p/8010988
@HomerSpinson It's a shame, I know, but this is the pace of things around here, anything takes at least a month to be mentioned or addressed, unless in a very few and rare occasions.
And as I mentioned on that report, I'll bring it here for clarification: There are 3 sprint BUGs that I know of:
1 - (supposedly fixed) Han can get stuck in Sharpshooter's stance, which doesn't allow him to enter sprint mode, and he walks even slower then normally. Using Sharpshooter again fixes the issue;
2 - Palpatine's Dark Aura can cause you to sprint very slowly, like if you were walking or worse. A Day 1 BUG never solved. This is the BUG you mentioned @HomerSpinson , and thanks for providing a method to get rid of it besides dying/respawning, I didnt know that being affected by Dark Aura again would solve the issue. I have a GIF showing this BUG:
3 - You may get your sprint totally disabled. I have no idea what causes this BUG, but this is another of the Day 1 BUGs never solved. I shall have some time to search for the footage I have on this BUG later today and for the entire day tomorrow, so I hope I can find it. The worst about this BUG is that it persists between matches, but I don't remember if it also persists between maps, or even modes. Leaving the application and coming back does solve it. It's a very rare BUG, I experienced it just a couple of times since launch, and I never got to identify what might be its cause. I believe this is the BUG being reproted in both this report and in the one I linked.
Hey buddy, it happens usually on GA but I have seen it happen on H v V. I know you're saying about giving them over a month to be addressed but like u said this bug has been around for a long time and it's a game changing bug. Really wish they would just concentrate on fixing issues like this and put any future new content on hold
@HomerSpinson oh no, they shouldn't need a month to start thinking about an issue. IMO they should take the bugfixing of this game as something more serious. It's infuriating that they take months to fix the smallest of things. It's infuriating that not a single patch has come without introducing a couple or a dozen new bugs. It's infuriating that they oftenly state a bug/issue was improved or fixed when nothing was done actually.
I was just stating how things roll around here. Sadly it's the way it is, and if we want to have a new gen Star Wars experience, they are the only ones that can provide us this experience.
They'll circumvent the issue by saying every studio would love more money and more employees, like we didn't pay full price for this in the first place or like EA can't afford some extra money so they save their image with their Disney partner. The state of this game was a choice made by EA, and we shall assume the studio, despite not agreeing entirely, will back up all policies issued by their publisher. Their pay to win microtransactions model didn't work, but instead of fixing the mess, EA left DICE to prove they could revive the game in the direst of situations, and surprisingly they did. The game has gathered a lot of new players culminating in an all time high around the release of Capital Supremacy and Anakin Skywalker. Their method to make this game enjoyable again was to shove us content we asked for and to change the game constantly on player feedback. IMO, this has made this game even worse, it's a broken mess in terms of playability and balance. However the majority of the public serms to like it.
What can we do if most of the players only care about aesthetics and content? The bugs are overwhelming, and only the most commented on get fixed "quickly". So long they can sell more copies, it seems they endure being mocked by how flooded with BUGs their game is.
Let's take Apex Legends as an example, another game published by EA. Their bugfixing processes are measured in weeks instead of months. Their success surely allowed them more resources. This is the treatment the game that shall take Fortnite's place receives.
Anyway, I hope this changes in the future and we get some bugfixing patches that are long overdue.
I agree with everything you said @RogueZeroRendar
Ok so I finally found them:
It's hard to show a BUG where a command isn't processed because we can't show the buttons being pushed. However, as I stated before, double tapping the forward button (or double tapping up in the analog stick for consoles) automatically puts you in sprint mode, but when you're affected by the sprint BUG you enter this weird movement effect where you retrigger the beginning of the walking animation for each time you tap the forward button again. You can see I was "walking" (I was actually using the shift button to sprint to no avail), and then I started to tap the button and this visual effect took place.
I also managed to do this on another match:
In this same match I died and respawned as another character, and the BUG persisted:
Unfortunately I didn't find any recording of this BUG persisting between matches, but I remember this was a thing. As this is a very rare BUG, at least to me, I have no idea what triggers it, nor any method to stop the BUG from affecting you.
