Star Wars Battlefront 2 Error Code 216

Ever since the most recent Anakin patch, me and my son can no longer play battlefront 2 together.

I specifically bought a 2nd key so we could play together. Now every time we try to join a game that either one of us is in it says erorr code 216.

So i reinstalled the games, full fresh download. Also fresh firmware on the router. Called up my isp and got them to remove the tcp pork blocking, (that was on before nad we still had no issue playing together), they aso removed a console NAT thingie on their side that helps consoles play online with nat, but can cause problems, im using a nat on my router end.

every other game from other companies works, and i dont own another ea game to test.

I have followed the resolution center steps, but all of my tcp ports are enabled software side and router, firewall dosnt block the game. When i trace rt and uotrace (i used to play uo actually) lol cant believe they still use that thing.

It has no drop outs, and 0% packes lost. We both play on ethernet hard wired into pc to router.

Ive workked in IT networking for over 15 years, and i cant seem to diagnose this issue.

When i get the erorr code 216 - it actually loads the map and gets me to the lobby screen waiting for players and then disconencts, so i believe its something EA's end, that is trying to stop players play from same house, IP. My son is 6 years old and loves to play with me.
Please tell me why this is happening.

And if there is no resolution, then i need a store credit as i paid for 2 copies of this game and was successfully playing this game with my son before the patch.

Unless of course you can help me resolve it.

Thanks so much

Are you still having some connectivity trouble? If you log into your router's admin panel do you see an option to check for a firmware update?

  • Ok, I have already followed that, am getting 0% packet loss out of 100 or more packets.

Both pc's running origin and swbf2.exe as admin. turn router off every night to flush dns and reset router, on hardwired connection for both always.

always clean boot, i hate logitech apps or other apps that eat system resources.
I called up my isp to open all ports a few days ago.

    upnp enabled

all ports are auto opened for tcp on my router- so no need for any port forwarding, as the game was working perfectly with 2 accounts in bf2 before.

And the NAT im using is enabled and set to full cone nat.

I am able to play the game fine, no 216 error at all when in a server. It is only when my son tries to join the same server that he then gets this 216 error.

I am on PC , not console.

Only play with Ethernet. 1 router, i turn the router off every night to reset it.

My speed tests during the day are around 28Mbps which are fine, we were playing on this before no problems.

So if i can get into the game, play for hours but when he tries to join he gets this error, and then i test running games on his pc, same issue, no problems and when i try to join from my pc i get the 216 error.

So Somethings up here. No connection issue, its a IP conflict on the EA serve side since this chosen one patch.

Both pc's have different NAT ip addresses 192.168.1.35 & 36. so no conflict there.

If i add everything up I have tried as well as whats currently working and when it dosnt its my IP address being received by EA.

I wanted to buy Anthem and BF5 but now im holding back as i may not be able to play with my son on same servers.

Thanks, really want help so i can buy a few more games.

  • I swapped routers over and it started to work. So there was some hidden check box or settings that i couldnt for the life of me find or figure out what it was. And the router i swapped to was an older one. How weird.

Then the next day i started getting an error unable to connect to servers. IDK, maybe its just an ea server issue for today, but for me to any errors and issues for this game.

OMG, EA, you are ridiculous. I just started running into this issue. And no, I am 100% sure nothing in my network is wrong. In fact I have two PCs side by side and one connects just fine, the other gets the error, every single time, tried restarting, etc.

Here is my trace & speed tests results. Some more debugging info would be great, do you even track how many players have issues with your game? I play this once a month with my son, and it seems it works 50% time, and even when it works it seems we spend 50% of the time waiting for matchmaking instead of playing...

The UO Trace wasn't fully completed. You populated the server sites you're pinging off but you'll need to run the trace so you can see packet loss, average ping, and ping variance. I'm not too concerned with your connection being the culprit here though, this sounds more network setting related that needs an adjustment.

Check out this post in Apex that may help get you around the error for the 2nd PC.

  • I've been suffering this issue for over a week now on my PS4 so finally got on to EA.help. Fat lot of good they were. Followed their fixes & got nowhere so got an ethernet cable myself, went from WiFi to LAN & restarted my router. Thankfully I solved it & no more error 216, fingers crossed. My son plays it a lot more than me so hopefully that,ll be the end of the connection issues. Hope you sort yours out, Best of Luck...
