Major issues with online PS5 gameplay (rubberbanding)

I started playing BF2 recently and while i'm enjoying the game, it's been having some serious issues with lagging and rubberbanding. I play on PS5 online and this issue happens with any multiplayer mode at any time of the day (not just peak times). This lag prevents characters from running properly (literally 2 steps forward one step back), and freezes up when trying to dodge roll or even use abilities. I don't notice this happening with other players or NPCs at all, which is weird. I've tried various resets on the console and re-signing in to EA , but none of that helps. My internet connection is great and i'm on the closest server (7-10ms) so I don't understand why this could be happening.  Amongst other bugs with this game, this is the hardest to deal with since it makes the gameplay almost impossible. 
Does this happen to anyone else? and has anyone found a solution?
