star wars battlefront 2 keybored and mouse not working

So 2 days ago i had a friend over at my house and we were playing star wars battlefront 2, taking turns and the game was working fine. but then the next day i click on star wars battefront 2 and something pops up.

"You're currently in windows compatibility mode" and it doesnt tell you how to disable it which was not really helpful

Ive never seen this message before in my history of pc gaming. i then close it and proceed to play the game, but when i was in the loading screen (the loading screen with the developers and the star wars battlfront logo on it) i tried skipping it, but it didnt so itried again and again. the loading screen ends and im now at the main menu and i try to click on multiplayer but my mouse doent move, then i tried using my keybored to get to the settings menu but that doent work either. i then plug in my xbox controller and i works fine and i tried clicking something on the keybored and i cant see the cursor (my keybored and mouse were not broken as i was able to play a different game with them) i had no idea what to do as i kept turning my pc off and on again to see if that would do anything but nothing.

the next day (13/08/2018) i un-installed the game and re-insatlled it to see if that would make it work. when the download got to the playable stage i still had the same problem but when i played it again a few minutes later my mouse was kind of  working. i could see the cursor and click on stuff and shoot but the cursor was the blue loading ring and would stop at the edge of the screen and my character only be able to look at certain angles. my keybored was still not working and the only buttons that would work in game was Alt+F4, Alt+Tab, Ctrl+Alt+Delete and the windows button . if anybody has any advice that would help me in this situation it would be much appreciated if you could share the imformation.
