Star Wars BattleFront II requires CD1 to be in the drive

I bought Star Wars BattleFront II for the PC a few years back.  I have used it on Windows XP and Win 7 without any problem.  I finally bought a new laptop and installed Win 10 Pro on it.  The laptop is a gaming laptop with a desktop i7-7700 processor with 8 cores, 32 Gb RAM, GE Force GTX 1060 video card with 6 GB memory.  So, the machine is more than capable of handling SWBF2.

But this laptop doesn't have a CD/DVD drive in it.   After installing the game (4 discs) from a borrowed USB - DVD drive and resolving DirectX 9 issues on Windows 10 (that has DirectX 12), I am now faced with the issue of the game requiring Disc 1 in the drive for me to play.

Is there any way I can play this game without having the Disc in a CD/DVD drive?  Who on Earth still has a DVD drive on a laptop in 2020? :-(  What do I need to play the game without a CD/VD drive?  Is there a downloadable version of this game that I can get after submitting my Product Id from the Game box that I currently have?

thanks,

Tngodncr

  • Hey there @Tngodncr  ahh I see, so that would be the Original SWBF2 we don't support that game as we did not make it or support it.

There are currently two SWBF2 games the classic one from 2005 was made by Pandemic Studios (the one you have) and then a 2017 version that was made by EA DICE.

I recommend googling around and see if there are any solutions out there for you.

  • @EA_Atic Thank you so much for the reply.  This clears up some things, but it still doesn't help me.  I had already Googled for a solution to this issue, but hadn't found a resolution.  I will try again.

Anyway, the confusion arose, because I guess, the creative department at EA could not come up with a new name for a video game that they made.  Sheeeeeshhh.... "Star Wars Battle Front 2" was the only name they could come up???  Copying the name from a game made by a different studio 12 years prior?  Chriii....ssstt.... 😕   The only thing I find on the web about STBF2 are links to EA.  That's why I assumed that you guys made this game.

@Tngodncr that fair and I totally understand the confusion on this. When you are searching around trying using "Classic SWBF2" should help you out. 🙂
