Nice work!
I bet there is something wrong in the ProfileOptions file. In this case, PreferedPingSite has been changed unintentionally. And I suppose this bug will cause many things, like some wrong settings in arcade mode or loadout (because the ProfileOptions file has a lot of information). EA people should fix it.

You are right Sati_Sati, I have narrowed it down by taking a copy of the files in the settings folder and after the "bug" appears, copy the copied files back over the ones there in the settings folder. When I copy the ProfileOptions file back in, it fixes the problem until such time as I select a ping server other than Australia, and it then re-corrupts the file. Annoying that.
However, I have though seemed to find an in-game work around which so far has worked.
If I play a game on a different server other than Australia, when I finish that game, I go back to the EA Account screen, go to Options, l and change the Ping server to Australia. After doing thgat I DO NOT click on the "back" button, but go to an online game mode and try to find a lobby for a game on the Australian server - even an empty one. I go into the lobby or game for around a minute or so, then I quit. When I go back to options, I've found Australia still selected as the default Ping Server. If I exit the game altogether to Windows, and then go back in (so far) the default ping server has come up as showing Australia.
So yeah EA should fix this, but it looks like I may have come up with a work around for now. I'll update this thread when I have any more evidence.- 8 years ago
I've now tested my work around 4 times, and all 4 times it would appears to correct the problem as I logged back into the game to check the default ping server it was set to and it was on Australia.
So the work around appears to work. However, it is not a final solution as anytime I change the server location to find a game I have tyo do my work around to get the default server back set to Australia.
As such, over to you EA and DICE.

Same problem on PS4, and we don't have the options PC users have.

Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug Can't connect to a game. The Ping Server keeps setting it self to United Arab Emirates (the server with the highest ping for me). If I leave it for more than 3 minutes I get placed in an empty lobby where I don't see anyone else come in.
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? LunarCoil
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug? 07/05/2018
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM) 9:00 PM
In what game mode did the bug occur? Galactic Assault
What is your time zone? AET - GMT + 10:00
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Select a game mode. While a game is being found, check Ping Server in multiplayer options.
What happens when the bug occurs? The game sets my Ping Server to United Arab Emirates. I stop the search for a game, and manually change the server to the Australian server (or any other ping server that is close to me). I start a search for a new game, but the Ping Server has automatically been set to the United Arab Emirates again.
What do you expect to see? To be placed in a game happening on the Australian Ping Server, or which ever server I've set it to.
Please select your region Australia
AMD or Nvidia Model Number ?
Here's a video of what is happening.
This used to happen rarely, less than once a week. If I restarted the game or the PS4, it would solve this problem. Since the last patch, it has been happening almost every time I play. Resetting the game or PS4 does nothing. Sometimes I eventually get placed in an empty lobby on the UAE server, but most of the time the game is perpetually looking for a match.

This problem is more extensive than you think. I have NEVER changed my ping site, because I live so close to the Oregon site, and those servers, being on west coast of North America, are usually very well-populated any time of day or night. But lately, the game is randomly picking my site for me, and then dumping me into empty servers. Every time I look, it has picked a different ping site. Trying to switch it back to Oregon does nothing. Some over at EA has really messed with something in the controls of how ping sites are selected, and it is messing everyone up.

OK, so I have trolled enough strings now. Visited enough off-site chats and forums. This is an epidemic. I'm in northeast USA and I haven't been able to play a game in two weeks because of this issue and there are gamers all across the globe who haven't played for even longer. This is a SWBF2 specific issue and not an EA server issue as far as I can tell. EA broke something with the July patch and they need to figure it out before they become the case study for class-action against a gaming provider. Or they lose their license. Which one do they want to face? As I posted on the other string, this is not a connection issue on my end and it is not an overall EA server issue on their end. Star Wars Battlefront 1 works fine, and I have been enjoying some old school Supremacy for a bit now. Thanks for the never ending bonus score, guys... But fix SWBF2 for the love of god and for the sake of your gaming community. This is unacceptable. I paid cash money for a game that is supposed to WORK. And it DOESN'T. Figure it out.
Back to SWBF1 now so I can take out some frustration.

@EA_Ataashi I have still not found/had resolution to this. I do thank you for combining the threads and hope something can be done. I tried the workaround that @New_Roosterman suggested (adjusted for PS4), and still no luck. Again, this seems to be SWBF2 specific, as SWBF1 is connecting fast and playing very well. I am understandably frustrated. Any guidance from you or your team will be forthcoming soon I hope.
