Yesterday the game worked fine no freezes and crashes at all (after update). I will see if it wasn´t just luck. 🙂 But that will be about 4 hours. After school.
Deleting that Folder in Users was the ticket! for now. I've been able to play a solid hour! that is 12 times longer than the entire time i've been trying to play.
Steps taken.
Full reinstall
Delete Star Wars BF2 folder under users documents
Repair game.
Launch game, it launched in windowed mode. w/ audio loud as *. I turned volume back to decent levels and after a round of gamplay went fullscreen. I have not tried windowed borderless yet as I think that could be the prob maybe? Im not gonna push it Im playing and having fun!

So far so good am now playing in borderless and no crash yet. Idk wtf was wrong with that folder but deleting it and repairing after a clean install was the trick. I'll update if the problem persists and if the fix works again.

@Glam_Foe_Hammer finally ^_^ I am happy for you 🙂 My internet ended up going out, they are doing repairs before "winter is coming" :P So today I will actually get to play the game 🙂
Congrats!!!!
Oh, and I totally agree with you about the game shouldn't have some of the issues it does/did, but since it's star wars I am trying to have hope 🙂

Alright the freeze crash returned when I went Borderless, went back to fullscreen no issue for several hours. The problem for me seems to be borderless mode.

When you say "repair game" how do you do that? I'm in the middle of reinstalling after uninstalling and deleting the user subfolder. I even uninstalled my video drivers and reinstalled them before reinstalling BF2.

Was just about to post this, yeah I did the same thing last night, and it seems solid now, though have only played a few rounds since the fix, so can't call it conclusive, but yeah, deleting the SW:BF2 files from Documents and restarting the game seems to have fixed my problems. I also got rid of the Alpha and Beta folders too in case they might be causing some conflict.
Right, time to get on tonight and make sure the fix has held.

The fix never holds for me, it does however allow for hours of game time. then I have to remove the user folder for bf2. Playing in borderless seems to make it happen faster.

Okay, as an update on where I was previously, I'm still suffering from crashes, though it is improved on where it was at before. The crashes are much less frequent, now I can get a few games in before crash or a lock up. Getting rid of the Beta files from documents, and even the current SW:BF2 files from there definitely helped clean things up, but it seems only part of the solution. One consistent crash I seem to be getting is when I select an Enforcer unit, that seems to always give me a CTD which is massively annoying. Haven't attempted to play singleplayer since the semi-fix so can't comment on that end as yet.
Anyone else still having problems? And does anyone have a more complete fix that sorts out these issues?

Okay after not being so bad for a night or two after getting rid of the Beta files etc, tonight we were back to square one again. I had one, maybe two rounds that didn't end in a crash. In one instance I managed to fire the game up again and get back into the same round only for me to crash again! This is getting ridiculous. I have also tried the additional fixes to no avail. Nothing seems to be putting a dent in it this time and the crashes were just coming thick and fast tonight. Other than Starfighter Assault the game has been near unplayable, and that is after the Beta and other early previews ran smooth as silk on my rig, so the problem is not at my end. And with paying extra for early access? Well I hardly benefited at all from it, as the game was unplayable. I think EA has got to think about providing at least partial compensatory refunds to people who's games clearly aren't working as it appears clear that currently the game is not fit for purpose, which is a shame, as when it works it is a great game, it just hardly ever works, and they also need to sort out Matchmaking, that current system seriously blows.
