The hotfix did not completely fix the delay to attacking after evading
Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug The hotfix that allegedly "fixed an issue that would cause a delay when attacking after evading" did not completely fix the issue. The mechanic is still very choppy.
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? Mr Landeaux
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug? 03/11/2020
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM) 7:30 AM
In what game mode did the bug occur? Heroes vs. Villains
What is your time zone? CST - GMT - 6:00
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? With a controller: hold the left analog stick in a direction (left, for example), dodge, and click the attack button. With a keyboard: hold the directional key in any direction (left, for example), dodge, and click the attack button.
What happens when the bug occurs? Your character will not perform the specific attack animation after dodging in a specific direction. Either your lightsaber character will stop movement and perform a standard stationary attack, or your lightsaber character will not perform an attack at all.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see the lightsaber character immediately perform a specific attack animation that is tied to dodging in a specific direction immediately. Before the current patch created a bug that disallowed lightsaber characters to attack after evading, you could dodge in a direction then immediately perform a specific attack animation. You were allowed to keep holding your directional analog stick in that specific direction, and you were allowed to "click" the attack button. Now, you have to stop your directional movement by releasing the directional movement analog stick or key, plus you have to hold down the attack button. It makes for very choppy gameplay mechanics.

Before the patch that caused this delay issue, dodging then immediately attacking initiated a specific attack animation. Therefore, all you had to do was dodge then click the attack button. You were also allowed to continue moving your directional analog stick or key.
The "fix" today was partial. After today's update, you must dodge, stop any subsequent directional movement, and hold the attack button down to trigger the attack animation.
To further clarify, you used to be able to move in a specific direction by holding your analog stick or key, dodge, then press the attack button to perform the attack. Now, you cannot continue holding your directional movement analog stick or key, and you have to hold the attack button down. These additional contingencies hinder combat fluidity and make for interactions that are not as smooth as it once was. It is especially hindering to controller users, and even more so to someone who may have a stick drift issue with their controller.
I appreciate the work that has been done to improve the issue from where it was before this hotfix, but more work is still needed on the animations. I hope that the development team continues to work on a complete fix to make the attacks as fluid as they were before the initial bug.
