The Next-Gen BF2 Experience: What’s it like?

I currently don’t have a next-gen console; I honestly would like to know how the PS5/Series X runs the game. Is it good? Bad? Or in the middle?

Unfortunately scalpers have most of the consoles and the majority of gamers can't actually buy one
People don't support scalpers and wait for them at a reasonable price
  • Just played it tonight for the first time on Series X. Didn’t look like any graphic improvements but still looks great. Runs smooth but I remember it running really smooth a year or so ago last time I played it. What I will say is the ridiculously long load times on console are cut dramatically. Was always a pain that it took 45s to load even the main menu. Now it’s about 8s tops, maybe even a bit faster.

  • @Dtrav Loading time improvements are an absolute win, especially on maps like the Cruiser/Dreadnought in HvV. The only other thing is that the game runs at Pro/One X fidelity
  • @Dtrav Nice. That seems to be overall the major takeaway from playing current games on PS5 or Xbox Series X. The load times are drastically reduced.

I play Planetside 2 on PS4. The load times are about the same as Battlefront 2. A friend with a PS5 said the load times are cut down to around 10s and the game runs a lot smoother when there's a lot of action and players in an area.

For games that aren’t optimized, that seems about right. For games that are, generally there’s some pretty wonderful improvements (Gears, Ghost Recon, Halo). Hope BF2 allows for 4K max settings on PC for next gen. That would be great and allow for more people to check it out.
