@TRlALON Pulling the game wouldn’t be storming off it would be honestly admitting to the gaming community that they made a mistake. At least that would communicate that they have a concern over putting out poor quality.
leaving this game available in this state; pretending like nothing is wrong just screams “we make bad games and don’t care”.
how many of the thousands and thousands of people comparing about this game are really going to trust another EA title? Look at Squadrons; that hasn’t sold well at all, don’t you think that has a lot to do with the continued “bad taste” BF 2 has left? Sure it has.
The server status of this game isn’t because it’s so popular or so well loved it’s because EA still needs marketshare. Make no mistake, this is precisely why so many AI elements were added to the game; they knew players weren’t going to stick with it.
Look at a game like GTA 5; yes they’ve made mis steps, yes there are exploits, and yes they’ve got bugs but they made an effort to fix what they could and improve the gameplay and now 7 years later the game is still widely popular. The server status isn’t reflective of the popularity of the game or the quality of the game because there are other reasons why those servers can be left running.
EA has no hope of selling a successful SW title in the future, even if it’s good, because nobody has faith in them. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Battlefield 6 under perform. EA’s doesn’t exactly have a great reputation to rely on so anything they can do to communicate sincerity will go a long way market-share wise.

But here's the problem. Because that really wouldn't repair the damage and make anything better if that's the only action taken because this isn't just a Battlefront thing. Afterall, they keep sh*tting out Battlefield games so why would they come up with that. Their policy isn't keeping games alive support-wise like Rockstar does, their goal is to release another one every 2 - 4 years. If it went better for them moneywise we might've already a BF III and BF2015 would be played by even less people, such is the fate of older Battlefield titles too.
So unless they change their general policy it doesn't acheive anything to pull one game, no one's going to applaud them for doing that because no one is taking that serious.
Only thing that happens is that players who stick to the game get frustrated and feel pissed off by EA anyways.
If they'd do it like Rockstar let the devs keep improving and fixing the game, then there'd be no need to pull it either.

Pulling the game? Are you serious? For what reason? To make your complaints feel justified?
What a nonsensical idea. BF2 is irrelevant to everyone but us who still play it. Yes it's full of its problems but it has had its day; it's an old game. 'Pulling' it would be a case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.

@phyrebrat Yeah, I’m serious. EA’s reputation is crap. You know why it’s crap? Because players keep letting them make junk games and giving them a pass
“.. no, don’t take this bad game away.”
Most people walked away yet hardly anyone is cooperating to try and compel better quality games out of them.
At some point EA has to think about now they’re going to change that reputation or they won’t be around anymore.@TRlALON There hasn’t been a new SW title announcement because there can’t be; there simply isn’t time. EA’s contract with Disney ends in 2023 and there’s been no confirmation that Disney intends to renew it with them as of yet.
Again, the number of people on other platforms advocating that this title be tossed in the bin FAR exceeds the few who think it still has multiplayer value.
Pulling the game plus being up front about why AND putting the effort into making a descent game would go a long way in starting to turn that reputation around.
It’s possible they have an opportunity with BF 6 seeing as they’re not developing it in Frostbite which has been a major drawback to these titles.

BFII was released in 2017, if they had done it like in the Battlefield series they could've released a new one in 2020 already. When was BF2015 released again?
They managed to make Squadrons. This game was financially disastrous for them, so the deadline isn't the only aspect here.
"Again, the number of people on other platforms advocating that this title be tossed in the bin FAR exceeds the few who think it still has multiplayer value."
Who told you that, some circlejerking redditors? Like who are those people even, 1 - 5% of the entire playerbase?
Where is that sentiment of pulling that game coming from anyways all of a sudden? Just few weeks and months people were talking about this game normally here, is this some sort of new trend coming from reddit or something?
"Pulling the game plus being up front about why AND putting the effort into making a descent game would go a long way in starting to turn that reputation around."
A very long way I might add. People would just think it's nothing than image caring right now with no real intentions behind it.
To show the community that you're being serious about great improvements for the future and for all series invovled, you don't need to pull any game at all but change your policy and stick to it. Pulling the game contributes nothing to such future plans, it's stuff from the past and proves nothing.
Imagine the outrage and theories that'd emerge within the community across all titles. Like that EA is not honest anyways and is going to pull more game in the future to press people into buying their new products, with pulling BFII only being the first experiment, and that it's a shallow attempt to make people forget the errors involved with this game.
Why would this company want to draw attention to a dead game and risk a shitstorm because some minority insists on them doing so?
