Dice isn’t the problem, it’s EA. Dice is my favorite developer because they make quality FPS games. EA was the one that forced microtransactions when the game first came out. EA is the one to blame how crappy the game was. Also, blame EA for ending support for this game. I’m sure Dice wanted to continue adding to the game but EA said no.

@thieves1988You say, "Dice isn't the problem?" Riiiiight. Dice wouldn't know what an effective algorithm for team balancing was even IF a world renowned mathematician readily provided them with one.
The scapegoat Microtransactions were only a problem for ALL of those whiny complainers who blew it out of proportion. The true dilemma was the initial progression system being purposefully designed to be flawed and slow. This was done to force the hand of impatient individuals, and cause instant gratification laser brains to spend real $ to advance more rapidly.
The rest of us, just played the game and exercised patience. But yeah, go ahead and give Dice another pass for their joke of a game at launch, and the joke that it still is at this point in time (i.e. going on 4 years later).
Heroes & Villains alike still get stuck on random objects like trees, vines, and rocks on quite a few maps in GA. Abilities still fail, & some H/V are still prone to being unable to use abilities or even defend as a result of poor coding.
Yeah, so how exactly Dice is not at all the problem for THEIR poorly designed game is beyond me.
EA and Dice were truly incompetent on this game. They spent more time on designing the lame BB droids (which I never have, and I never will be playing as) than all of the other characters combined. Meanwhile, they could have easily made over $100,000,000.
Dice is lazy on level designs, like how on the Kamino Barracks there are dead spots that will automatically take Grievous out of Claw Rush ability. You see, Dice never bothered to polish up their maps. They only did the absolute bare minimum required regarding certain bugs/glitches, & yet many people sit there and pretend that Dice are a quality gaming company.- 5 years ago
Well, you’re at a loss for not playing those droids. They’re fun.

@Valar81MorghulisAre you telling us that random lootcrate stuff was actually any good? I didn't feel that way.
I think most people agree that the later variant of unlocking it by playing the classes was better in all ways. I don't see anything great in a potentially eternal grind that rewards me with stuff I already have and won't give me that starcard I need for another year.
Unlocking random stuff one after another would've been fun probably, but the duplicate loot card stuff made me nope out. Glad that it was entirely removed when I returned. I prefer to unlock stuff based on my play time with that certain class, XP and skill, not luck.
They included BB-8 for the same reason as they included the caped Kylo and Palpatine's eternal Sith skin, the movie launches just seemed too good to miss out the opportunity to get new players because of the movies and hype players for the movies in return. That's the whole mystery I guess.
Upon removing the lootcrates, BF II was basically a dead cow for EA because how are they supposed to get any more great money from it after the desastrous launch and microtransactions reduced to cosmetics? It's not like they included another monetization concept, all these new content updates were free DLCs and they probably let DICE made their thing to polish up the image, which kinda worked.
For real, if they had left the game in launch state with lootcrate progression and no supremacy mode I would've never returned.
Mind that DICE had to cluster together all that new stuff in that time, probably knowing that EA was counting downwards on the life of the game.
This game could've been improved much more with continued support, a pause for new content and focus on bugfixing instead, but well, it was in fact EA's decision that this isn't something needed to be taken care of any further. Mind the articles and youtube videos praising the redemption of BF II.
DICE was clumsy and there still has been work to do all the time, yes, but good luck when time and money work against you.

Competition can only be a good thing for us players
To long has the bar been lowered without any accountability
- 5 years ago@thieves1988 Yes and no. I agree EA is the overall problem. They are the ones that wanted to MTX everything like they are doing with FIFA and Madden.
On the other hand, DICE is flat not making the games their fans expect from a raw gameplay perspective. Fans expect Conquest gameplay in Battlefront with vehicles on the map...not tokens lol. We didn't get it. Not by a long shot with either game until Supremacy arrived in Spring 2019.
Same with Battlefield. BFV didn't come close to the large scale, over the top conflicts we are used to from BF3 and BF4. I agree BF3 and BF4 in particular were excellent. I've been playing Battlefield since the PC only days with BF2 and BF2142. It difficult to see what unfolded with BFV. DICE has some serious making up to do with BF6.
SOOOOO, I will end on a high note here with the trailer for BF2142 including the classic Battlefield theme. Enjoy!

- 5 years ago@budzai I think they did that one on purpose. Seems to me it's not uncommon for games with heroes to have a new character show up OP to attract players to play them. But yeah he was way OP...especially since we only had GA at the time. He totally dominated the choke points and confined spaces of GA lol.
