I’ve been doing research on why this has been lately and I’m pretty sure I know why.
I’ve been playing in both regular multiplayer modes (HvV, HS, CS, GA) as well as setup game modes (ie me & friends setup a HS or HvV match together). I’ve been doing this to test some observations.
while bugs HAVE been much more predominant with the RoS update I’ve been seeing much more than that with regard to gameplay mechanic.
What I’ve been finding CONSISTENTLY is that players with a class OR character level that’s lower have been given buff stats .... no this isn’t to say they should be poor players. I’ve been specifically observing the differences in attributes between lower level and higher level classes and characters and here’s what I’ve been seeing regularly:
1.) lower level hero or villain characters receive higher dodge / evade and overall mobility.
2.) lower level hero or villain characters have a higher saber swing per second rate.
3.) lower character hero or villains have a smaller hit box zone.
4.) lower level hero or villain characters have a higher ability “null zone” (this means that a lower level character in motion which otherwise would be affected within an ability AOE is rounded off to being outside of that AOE). You’ll notice this with a low level Luke or characters with high mobility that are moving (aka not blocking) and the ability fails to affect them even though they’re within the AOE. In some cases you’ll see the “X” hit marker on the target but the opponent will not be affected.
5.) lower level characters (and classes) have a lower degree of blaster shot spread.
These are just some of the observations that are CONSISTENT among all modes of gameplay; especially HvV. This is likely why so many are quitting. Long term, loyal players have been greatly unbalanced to the point where the game isn’t fun or properly playable.
this isn’t an issue of simple server sync either; if that were the case these issues wouldn’t be consistent they’d be much more randomized; this indicates that the observations are in the programming and not one of the many bugs we’re all aware of.
I’ve had BF2 since pre release and have watched how the gameplay has changed over the years with the various updates. I have characters that range in level from 230 down to 12 (some I simply don’t use). Not only can I see these different attributes with my own characters but friends who don’t play this game have hopped on to play and test and we’re seeing the same thing with them as well.
This has to be the worst and most idiotic update for any game in the history of games! This makes 2K look like a good Dev. Rather than employing proper matchmaking logic EA / DICE decided to buff lower level (ie new) players in what seems to be an effort to capitalize on the RoS release. All the while they’ve done so by tossing their long term and loyal customers aside.
- 6 years ago@VetteC5RX How are you monitoring this??? Im skeptical but have noticed some weird things too... like something really is working against me! But hey, I have my off days and know full well that sometimes I just really suck lol.
My Yoda is almost lvl 400. My General Grievous is lvl 14 lmao. For kicks and giggles, I took GG for a ride in HvV and got a 4 player killstreak in the first 60 seconds... yet the match before (LS) I was really struggling with Yoda (kept getting staggered form ghost attacks, his dash was buggy, he felt sluggish and laggy, but I have great internet and there was no ping warning). There have been multiple instances where Yoda just bugs out for no reason, and I would hate to assume its because they are handicapping my favorite hero (beyond the abundance of nerfs on Yoda already).- 6 years ago
I’m monitoring this a few ways:
1.) through my own comparative interactions in regular match made HvV & HS matches. Like you I have really high level characters as well as low level characters.
2.) through pre set games with setup squads.
In the preset games I’ll have a squad of 4 and we’ll have another squad of 4 in the same chat party but two separate game parties.
we’ll launch a game of HvV and we’ll take turns observing character attributes as different people use them and record what happens.
what we’ve found is that when using a hero or villain character that’s of lower level (sub prestige) there has been a consistency among the game mechanics for those characters such as:
- higher dodge / evade rate: these characters can dodge or evade more frequently where as higher level characters retain the standard delays between dodge & evade.
- null zones: this one has been tricky, lower level characters have a much higher instance of opponent abilities not registering on them even though they’re within the AOE. Vice versa this can happen in reverse; for example, just last night a level 12 Yoda was able to use his “unleash” against me, a level 174 Phasma and the ability took full effect even though my Phasma was mid roll where such an ability shouldn’t have an effect.
saber strikes: lower level saber wielders have will realize a higher rate of saber strikes per second than the states standard per character. Higher level characters retain the stated charter specific saber strike rate.
abiltiy cast / priority: we haven’t been able to nail this one down as well but the experiments point to lower level characters having a shorter ability cast time which sees the server recognizing that ability as priority if / when two are cast against one another. Luke had been previously given instant cast abilities so we don’t use him to test. Because the animations are still evident we have to try and track by observing the effect on the targeted opponent; finding that they’re seeing the knock back affect almost immediately on a consistent basis.
this appears all the more evident because in regular matchmaking games there is a high instance of lower level players against higher level ones. I cannot tell if this is due to the matchmaking logic or simply because of a higher instance of newer players given the new movie. One might “think” given the above observations that perhaps the Devs have set the matchmaking this way so as to enable these lower level players to level up more quickly; the long “triple xp” period would support that though but I have zero evidence of that so I can’t say it’s a flaw or issue; I really could just be the mix of players.
This is aside from any bugs. I noticed these issues immediately after the RoS update which I find to be more than a coincidence. I’m a veteran player on this game so I’m familiar with the mechanics and play-style that had been in effect and this very much isn’t it.

Hi,
To be fair, I think a lot of people quit out in the game because of the matchmaking issues. The matchmaking balancing is improper. My meaning is that there are too many one sided games of people who play the game a lot on one side and people who don't play often on the other side, this can and does spoil the game. If your getting dominated constantly by 4 on 1 situations all the time, what's the point of sticking around when your not enjoying the game. Games are meant to be fun...
You need to turn your attention to the person who owns the company, coders and developers etc and ask if they can fix the matchmaking issues etc, then maybe people will stop quitting games.
Not to say that some may be quitting on purpose.
The majority of the times that I quit this game is because of the improper balance.
All the best
