Why don't forcfields affect/stop force abilities and lightsaber attacks

So I've been noticing, in-game, that jedi/sith can basically just ignore the squad shield star-card. It should act like the heavy's combat shield in the aspect that the dome should reflect lightsaber throws (at least until the damage of the squad shield is exceeded) and stop things like the emperor's lightning etc within the same parameters. I mean it is in canon that force fields can stop jedi/sith cold, so it should go without saying that the same should be true within the game.  The match I was just in had the emperor shoot his chain lightning through two overlapping squad shields, mine (as an officer) and Leia's.
