Windows 10 HDR Enabling Itself

I am using Windows 10 to play Battlefront II.

I have HDR and WCG option disabled in Windows and I have HDR disabled in game as well.

However when I first start the game the HDR in windows automatically switches on and makes everything look like * on my desktop, which is why I have it disabled in the first place. The game looks fine because it's still disabled in game. But every time I'm done playing or minimize to my desktop after starting the game, I have to go back and change display settings in Windows and turn it off.

My question is, is there something in the start up process of the game that triggers windows to turn HDR on automatically? And is there a fix for this, or is it Windows related and I'm just going to have to deal with it?

  • Hey @undertakerhs after yesterdays update, do you still experience the same issue?

    Have you tried any troubleshooting?

  • Yep, still having the same issue. Not sure what kind of troubleshooting I could do.

    I use a GTX 1080 with my 55" 4K TV. HDMI cable.

I have the HDR/WCG option disabled in Windows 10 and the HDR option disabled in Battlefront II. But for some reason starting the game triggers the HDR in windows to turn on.

    Hey @undertakerhs

A quick request, can you upload a dxdiag to us so we can see what hardware and drivers you are using, it will help us look in to this issue more.

    Thanks! 🙂

  • Hi, I had this issue myself today while playing the Mass Effect Legendary Edition from the EA Launcher.

My monitors do not support HDR so its turned off in windows and the game. However whenever I tab out of the game, the monitor with the game goes scrambled. I left the game running while afk and when I returned, it scrambled in game without alt-tabbing. After closing the game it remained scrambled. I have 2 monitors and the other monitor was fine. I changed the display mode in windows to 'duplicate' and that fixed the game monitor. However changing the display mode to 'extend' or using only the game monitor would revert it to being scrambled. (This is after closing the game and a full restart). I have a 2070 Super and my drivers are all up to date.

I managed to fix it by turning HDR off in the windows display settings. No reason it should have been on as I have not touched that for years and my monitors do not support it. Looks like ya'll never fixed this HDR problem...

    Dxdiag attached.

  • My friend, there really is such a bug (not everyone), which is very annoying and annoying. I struggled with it for a long time and couldn't figure out how to fix this problem. The Custom Resolution Utility program came to the rescue, you run it on behalf of the administrator, by default your monitor goes immediately marked (active), move to the Extension blocks field, double-click on the line below, find HDR in the list, select this item and delete. Click OK and close the program. Now Windows perceives our monitor, without the HDR function. I was glad to help, have a nice game.
