Considering this is a multiplayer competitive game, I'm pretty sure the devs don't want to give a competitive advantage to people playing with wider monitors. If I were to *guess*, should they be supported, the wider monitors would just show you more of the cockpit walls, not give you an advantage over others with 16:9 by allowing you to see more enemies to the side. But it's just a guess.
@Merglet sad to burst your bubble but faster refresh rates offer more information than wider screen, going 16:9 to 21:9 increases your fov (that can be just properly coded into game) by roughly 35%, while having 120hz display just doubles information you see. How is one still being regarded as "cheating" while other is fine and if you cant afford higher end display "just deal with it"?
Thanks, but to briefly defend myself, in no way shape or form did I think it would be "cheating". No way! The simple fact of the matter is I had NO idea about the subject of support or whether or not it would give a competitive advantage, and shared a few thoughts about it. That's all 🙂 If anyone interpreted that as me IMPLYING such a thing, I apologize, I should have written my answer with more clarity.
Sorry for my harsh reaction too, last time after about week of emailing riot support about 21:9 in valorant after about 3-5 times they said something about "competitive advantage" and after i brought up fact that they dont lock game to 60hz they just straight up said they think of 21:9 as cheating compared to 120/144/240hz displays. So yea, now i have "if someone calls for competitive advantage they think its cheating" while ignoring facts 🙂
