I'm a huge fan of the rogue squadrons series and xing series. They are my fav games of all time.
And I think this game (SWS) more than does them justice.
There are answers to most of you questions but I simply dont have the patience. My advice is to, learn the game.
For instance ..Like why can't I cycle which firing mode?.. That one is covered by the different weapon types. There is a type to quad fire (rapid linked fire) the Xing cannons for instance.. Keep in mind that there are limitations due to the console button layout of the controllers, so the developers has to prioriitze. They still wanted to give you the linked cannons though, you just need to equip it.
The ships are VERY different. If they feel the same, you are doing something wrong and not pushing them.
- 5 years ago@CA1-PAINLESS modding your ship is not the same as being able to cycle through fire rates. Rogue Squadron was able to deal with this and they had a much more limited control mapping.
Speaking of Rogue Squadron, the most frustrating thing with squadrons is I am unable to free view inside the cockpit while piloting! I played Rogue Squadron first person view all the time, and being able to look around while turning is a HUGE advantage.
The yellow right stick on the Gamecube controller allowed you to control your camera view as the left stick flew the ship. For some reason, if you map the right stick on the XBox controller to Free Look, it completely renders the pilot left stick unusable. Why!?
And I'm not sure what you are doing to make the ships fly different, but the speed and maneuverability feels very much the same on all ships. There should be a bigger distinction in the speeds and maneuverability of each ship.
