Add Squadrons Private Lobbies and Third Person Spectate For Them

EA is sitting on top of a huge potential e-sport right now that only needs a couple of minor changes to be really viable and take off: adding private lobbies and the ability to have third-person spectator with a free camera for those lobbies. I definitely don't think you need to add general spectating however, since that could be abused in normal ranked matches. Either way, it would be a lot more fun to be able to join my friends and face off directly with them instead of only being able to play co-op. If you guys jump on it now and improve this and get feedback about the ranked system as fast as possible, you have what could become a really big e-sport that I imagine would be in the likes of rocket league.

Edit: Please make sure to reply and give some XP in the hopes that this is seen.

I like this idea too, but if the servers are p2p as rumored I would imagine spectators would be a problem for bandwdith?

  • I don't understand that well enough I guess, but I am not sure what would make that an issue. How would it be any different than loading an extra player that just controls a free camera instead of a specific team? I am sure there is a way to do it.

Oh I bet 1 person would be fine. For some reason I was imagining you meant like 5 spectators or something like that. I bet one or two would be fine.

  • Yep, definitely needs this. I've had it with ranked. Only around 20% of games get scored because of dropped players.

  • Totally agree with your comments here. It would be fantastic for communities who wanted to set up some training or friendly matches. Thanks for suggesting, I hope they implement.

  • @Billkwando Right, you would only need one for tournaments and such. If multiple people want to watch some friend's games, a player can just stream their perspective or the person spectating can. Services like discord have made that easy enough for anyone who has a decent card, processor, and good internet.
