This is confirmed fixed and looks great now!
You're killing me EA. At this point I'd accept using a high resolution stock image. You could throw a high res background in at least temporarily for now, and then work on a fancy new one with proper 3D depth and visuals. Just please do something so we can enjoy this damn game.
I'm hosting a VR party this weekend for people to all try out the new Pimax 8KX headset. I'm honestly ashamed to show them this game in its current state with those damn stars looking like something from the N64. Please just think of people with high resolution VR hardware.

The skyboxes in 4k non-vr are decent. The stars also look ok on screen while you are playing in VR. So this is just an embarassing bug with the VR headset code on windows. It's embarassing to ship a VR game like this, but even worse is not fixing it for two major updates... Insane. People are getting their Quest 2s now and the better resolution makes this hurt even more.

How is this possible that they can't see how horrible the stars look?
@EA_Tom Could you at least confirm this is "working as intended".
I'd love to say "well I bet they removed it from the list because it's being fixed in the next patch"...but I know EA better than that.

Ok, good that it is back on the known issues list!
I have stopped playing due to this, it is unbearable and immersion breaking.
After patch 1.2 I had to leave a negative review as well. Steam refuses to refund it because I am past the 2 hours (which I spent trying to fix it).
I'll turn it positive once this and the refresh rate issue are fixed.
This was advertised as a VR game. I would not have bought it if it wasn't! It's important that the implementation is proper. I'm saddened to see this didn't even make it into patch 1.2! It should have been a priority.
