The skyboxes in 4k non-vr are decent. The stars also look ok on screen while you are playing in VR. So this is just an embarassing bug with the VR headset code on windows. It's embarassing to ship a VR game like this, but even worse is not fixing it for two major updates... Insane. People are getting their Quest 2s now and the better resolution makes this hurt even more.
They removed this as an issue???? https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/SW-Squadrons-Known-Issues-amp-Announcements/m-p/9526030#M22
How is this possible that they can't see how horrible the stars look?
@EA_Tom Could you at least confirm this is "working as intended".

I'd love to say "well I bet they removed it from the list because it's being fixed in the next patch"...but I know EA better than that.

We have it back on the Known Issue List!!
VR
- Skybox stars appear blurry to VR users.

Ok, good that it is back on the known issues list!
I have stopped playing due to this, it is unbearable and immersion breaking.
After patch 1.2 I had to leave a negative review as well. Steam refuses to refund it because I am past the 2 hours (which I spent trying to fix it).
I'll turn it positive once this and the refresh rate issue are fixed.
This was advertised as a VR game. I would not have bought it if it wasn't! It's important that the implementation is proper. I'm saddened to see this didn't even make it into patch 1.2! It should have been a priority.

1.3 is out and while things seem to have improved a bit in VR, stars still are a blurry mess.

Very disappointing it wasn't fixed in the latest patch. It's extremely immersion breaking in high resolution VR. I decided to run the game in desktop mode and I can see how so many think it's fine the way it is. It looked absolutely fantastic. I place my high resolution VR headset back on and suddenly the stars are blown up in my face and look horrendous. It's a shame for such a stunning looking game everywhere else you look.

Totally in agreement, its disappointing how this issue isn't getting addressed. I really wanted to like this game, the reviews for it are stunning and I wanted to like this in VR. The Blurry star background makes everything outside the cockpit stand out as low definition even on Ultra settings. I'm holding off to play this for the next weeks because I want to be under 2h of playtime to be able to ask for a refund (again) if this doesn't get improved in the next patch.
The double frame render was told to have been fixed in the last patch and yet I still see the world outside the cockpit moving in steps through space rather than gliding (at least in VR) so I don't even know if this has been fixed.
I come from enjoying EVE Valkirie and Elite Dangerous in VR with no visual discomfort and in this game everything outside the cockpit is jittery as the ship moves and looks very low resolution. I don't understand the large amount of positive reviews this got in VR saying it elevated the experience and looked great. Is every PC-VR reviewer near-sighted or are they all corrupted ? Did they get a build that we didn't ?

I was just playing BattlegroupVR and it's developed by a single person. The stars look incredible. This has to be fixed for STAR Wars eventually. I still haven't played it in weeks waiting for the star field fix. I've waited a long time to experience this game... looks like I need to wait longer. ☹️

Yes I agree, it is really a big bummer. Why can't they fix their game? The star background looks so terrible. Can they make it high-res like the rest of the game ?
And what is the reason this hasn't been fixed yet? Can they not replicate it?
How can we help them getting it replicated, if that was the case?
