I played quite a lot of Xwing, Xwing vs. Tie Fighter back in the day. My Xwing copy was on 3 1/2" floppy disks...lol. Ran it on an old 386 PC. Those were the days.
Unfortunately, after spending 10 or so hours with this game...I'm done. I loved how precise a d quickly you could turn in the old games. This game seems like you are trying to steer The Titanic. The ships seem so slow to to go up or down to get an enemy in the target. I just hate it. And all of the damn debris and crap floating around ..I can't pick out the ships until they are zooming past me. Then I have to take 30 seconds to turn the ship (slight exaggeration) around and by that time...I'm dead.
The first night I played... I did okay. Averaging 4-7 kills per game. Played tonight .1 kill in 3 games combined. Spawn, 10 seconds to get to an enemy, die. Then wait 20 seconds to respawn, 10 seconds to battle...die. Rinse and repeat.
And I dont like the story either. Just give me some classic single player missions like Trench run, Endor Death Star, or any mission from the old Rogue Squadron games. I even prefer the old GC games to this shallow pile of crap. Huge waste of $40. Hopefully I can sell it for $25 or so.
Sorry you feel about Squadrons like that. I really love it and yeah its going to take some getting use to controls and flying. It has more of a mission objective feel than just cranking up the kills.
I really love the Fleet Battles, I've done very little dog fighting yet. But I'm having a blast. It's a new game the more you play, rank up quicker and you get all your load outs. No pay to play, just play and have fun.
Joined the TFA last weekend, what a blast to have a great class of players that understand objective gaming.
